Right off the southern tip of Texas is the tropical paradise of South Padre Island. This barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico offers vacationers a sunny respite from the daily grind. Gaze at a magnificent sunset from the flats, laze on the white sandy beach or go deep sea fishing and cook your catch at Andy Bowie Park. Take a dolphin-watch tour, look for more than 300 species of birds at the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center and dine on fresh Texas Gulf seafood.
The Pirate Adventure Cruise. Be sure and arrive early (a half hour or so) for the “meet and greet” session on the waterfront patio behind Black Jack’s restaurant.
Lunch @ Blackbeard’s. We love seafood very much, whenever we are on the coast we made sure to get some while we can at Blackbeard’s Restaurant. Their food is always good and the serving enough to fill you up.
For our lunch, I got fried flounder with popcorn shrimp and fried onion. Yummy!
The souvenir shop just right after you get off the bridge from South Padre on the right side of the road. They have plenty of coastal souvenirs. The place is huge and also their ice cream is so good.
