If you want to stay away from a crowded strip of Waikiki beach, you might like staying at the Turtle Bay Resort. It is secluded and private, you can definitely enjoy and just relax by the pool or snorkel/surf at the beach. They have tons of outdoor activities for families, surfing lessons, and the perfect location on a peninsula that juts out into the Pacific Ocean. It is located on the North Shore of Oahu. The 850-acre property encompasses 5 miles of beach and 12 miles of oceanfront hiking trails. Turtle Bay is 38 miles from Honolulu Int'l Airport. The Polynesian Cultural Center is nearby.
Even if you are not staying at Turtle Bay Resort, you can enjoy the afternoon/evening with their drinks or maybe a tea in their patio. The scenery is so beautiful, and they have the loveliest sunset.
WHAT TO DO AND SEE
The best way to explore the North Shore of Oahu. I encourage you to rent a car and explore what the island has to offer. We went to Polynesian Cultural Center, Shark Cove, Dole Plantation, Sunset Beach, etc. My husband and I spent the day driving around north shore, and it was so worth to drive. You will be "awe" with the beautiful scenery and you will find excellent food trucks on your roads (Giovanni's on the east, Shark's Cove on the west), even a small fresh market on the road next to the resort (on Sunday, fresh local fruits and tasty homemade brochettes for 1,5$).
Sharks Cove is one of the most popular dive/snorkel sites in Hawaii due to its accessibility. So beautiful and it’s not as crowded as Hanauma Bay. The parking can be tricky since it’s small, just wait and be patient people will come and go. Be careful with the corals and make sure to wear the correct footwear! If you’re not an experienced swimmer or if it’s your first snorkel this is a great place to start. No Shark! just plenty of fish. Shark Cove is located on the north shore of Oahu. More..
Symbolizing Hawaii’s rich heritage and historical connection with Japan, the Byodo-In Temple was built in 1968 to mark the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. A replica of Phoenix Hall in the 11th-century Buddhist Temple complex in Uji, Japan, it is a cultural landmark that attracts thousands of people each year. More..

WHERE TO EAT
Giovanni's Shrimp Truck is one of the most popular on the island. There’s nothing fancy, there’s a truck full of graffiti, sticky tables, but they makes the best shrimp scampi. They also have hot and spicy and lemon butter flavor. The scampi flavor is their most popular. Each meal comes with 2 scoops of rice with roasted garlic to top it off. It is absolutely delicious.
