Art
Santa Fe is known for its art. One place you will find quite a lot of it’s Canyon Road Arts. As you walk the half mile street, you’ll find many art galleries, museums and studios. Some of the art galleries are the Zaplin Lampert Gallery and the Waxlander Gallery.
The gallery showcases work by artists from all over the world.
Visit to Museums
As a cultural center, Santa Fe has many museums. It preserves the culture of Native Americans, indigenous people, and great artists.
Some of the museums include the Museum of Indian Art and Culture, which showcases Native American culture and the New Mexico Museum of Art which has art primarily from the Southwest with artists such as Gina Knee Brook and Paul Burlin.
Also, there’s the Georiga O’Keeffe Museum which exhibits its great collection which includes ‘My New Yorks’, and ‘Abstract Nature’. The Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian showcases Native American creativity with Native American jewelery and pottery. Also, it displays art by tribes such as the Navajo and hosts events such as book clubs.
The New Mexico history museum has century-old stories about the US State. It has a history of natives and setters.
Put it on your bucket list to visit at least one museum. Four of the museums can be found on Museum Hill, so you can head there if you want to visit multiple museums. Luckily, you can take in the astonishing views of the city while you are here.
Farmers Market
Your visit will not be complete without visiting the farmers market and enjoying local produce and food. One such place is the Santa Fe Farmers Market. Here you can find fruit, vegetables, poultry, meat and native baked goods.
outdoor activities
Santa Fe has a climate that favors outdoor activities. During winters, you can go skiing while in summers you can go hiking.
You can go bird watching at the Randal Davey Audubon Center and Sanctuary, which is made up of more than 130 acres and almost 200 species of birds. You’ll see Mountain Chickadee, Black-billed Magpie and Spotted Towhee. The sanctuary also has plants.
For hiking and great views, try Hyde Memorial State Park. The park covers 350 acres, and has hiking trails and camping grounds. While you are here, you can even enjoy fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, bird watching or a picnic.
You can even head to the Dale Ball Trails if you want to mountain bike, hike or trail run. There are more trails in the Santa Fe National Forest.
For skiers, there’s Ski Santa Fe which consists of 83 trails with 1,725 vertical feet to ski. Taos Ski Valley also comprises 3,274 vertical feet of snow.
