Dutch sports car manufacturer Spkyer unveiled the 2018 Spkyer C8 Preliator Spyder, a low-production carbon fiber body convertible. The new car will ditch the supercharged 4.2-liter Audi engine that Spyker has used in the C8 since 2000 and will instead be swapped for a 5.0-liter V-8 made by Koenigsegg.
The new engine is anticipated to produce 600 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque and will channel that power through a six-speed manual transmission. The last generation of the Spkyer C8 hit 201 mph, but the 2018 C8 Preliator Spyder is anticipated to top the 201 mph mark.
Spkyer CEO Victor Muller stated the brand’s plan to produce 100 units per year from its Coventry, England assembly plant. This is double the production volume of the Spyker C8 Preliator, as the brand only built 50 coupe versions. If you plan on ordering one of these rare beauties, be prepared to pay a sticker price of $430,000. Sales will reportedly begin in the summer of 2017.
