If we discuss hairstyle trend, nothing really came out. As such, there are looks that come and go – particularly with regards to hair color. The new season brings new trend and fresh ways to cut, color, and highlight hair. Nina is the owner of 5th Ave Hair Studio and a wonderful woman who all the time follows trends and uses her talents to cater to her unisex clientele. She is honest with her clients and customizes looks that will only enhance their beauty, a reflection of her work.
Beauty and fashion are her constant passions, and she loves to make her clients look nearly as good as possible. It takes lots of honesty when she adjusts a look that will only enhance their appearance making them even happier than they were when they first walked through her door.
I’m glad to see the salon is so busy, but Nina tells how her business has changed. “Business has changed post covid in two ways. Many of our clients move in and out of Florida like crazy but regular customers who have stayed, still come to see us. We’ve been getting new clients who have moved into the area, in addition to constant referrals bringing in a gradual stream of new people. It’s great to meet new people and see how happy they’re with our work. Our regulars are living people and very supportive. Getting new clients is all the time a good thing because it brings a new group of individuals to work with and makes them happy. Heading into the vacation season, Nina sees an enormous increase in clients. “People are getting out more and enthusiastic about getting on with their lives and having a sense of normalcy again. It’s so much fun to share their joy and help them feel and look charming when they go on dates, out with friends, vacation parties, etc.” Yes, we are all happy to have our lives back.
I’m very curious to hear about the new trends in hairstyles these days. “Many of our clients still prefer shoulder-length hair and then some opt for what has all the time been on trend, the bob cut that never goes out of style. We have people requesting extensions because they love vacation hair and for some, they want to lighten their hair as they get ready for a beach vacation getaway. This kept us very busy working with lots of colours and styles. Brunettes are trending right now, so we’re working on mocha and brown tones with muted light touches. Blonde is all the time in style and that I must say, trendsetter. It’s absolutely not written in stone, but I keep up with runway looks, magazines, and obviously, social media to stay relevant.
So with all the coloring, how do you keep your clients and those who color their hair healthy? “I always recommend using a clarifying shampoo to cleanse the scalp and remove buildup from product and it is best to use a sulfate-and-carbon free shampoo and conditioner with a protective serum before you dry your hair. This will certainly help protect the hair and keep it strong.”
Our world is obsessed with celebrities, and we know that they’re quite popular right now. Who do your clients ask about these days? “Yes, there are lots of popular celebrities these days where people come and ask for their specific cut and color. Popular celebrities I normally ask about are Jennifer Anniston and Jennifer Lopez. My client loved these two attractive stars and wanted to emulate their look. The blonde loves Jennifer Anniston’s natural balayage and the brunette loves Jennifer Lopez and obviously, the entire package. ☺ Giselle’s looks are all the time in trend and even more so since she appears in the media every day.
To keep up the vacation spirit, what charities do you support and how do you spend the vacations? “I like to support as much as I can. I love St. Jude, enCourage Kids Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and family in Ukraine. I’m planning to spend the vacations with my loved ones and I’m looking forward to an amazing 2023!
