People all over the world are obsessed with SELFIES. One in 14 people now use Instagram and the app claims to have 500 million users. Is social media (Twitter, Facebook, Linked-In, Instagram, Google) putting new pressure on the pressure to look good in photos? Never have our “faces” been more on display for our family and friends than NOW. How can we put our best “Face” out there for photos and “selfies?” Dr. Jeffrey Spiegelworld-renowned facial plastic surgeon, offers these tips to “put your best face forward” in photos.
Take a look:
Women should look up barely at the camera as it will make your eyes bigger, and raising your eyebrows creates a beautiful big eye look
Chin lift:
Men should emphasize the chin a bit. It creates a robust face and removes a double chin.
lean on:
For both men and ladies, tilt your neck barely towards the camera.
Instant Glow:
For Women – one minute before your photo, tap your lips a few times (a bit firmer than you might think!). This will send blood to your lips making them redder and fuller – both of which are considered very attractive. Similarly, you can pinch your cheeks a few times for a slight rosy hue.
All in the corner:
Stand sideways towards the camera. This creates a slimmer body profile, and adds interest to photos. Also, try dropping your shoulders barely towards the camera. This will somewhat lengthen your neck and slim it down.
Don’t forget to blink:
Flashes just before the camera turns off. That is, if they count to three to shoot, blink deliberately at two. This will help make sure that your eyes aren’t closed during the shot, and most significantly, will offer you the most open and bright eyes – and remember, bright eyes are very important to look good.
Smize:
Smile with your eyes! A fake smile is just your mouth. A real smile is when your whole face is laughing. Think about sending energy into your eyes or smiling with your eyes, and your beauty will shine into the photo.
Relax:
Think about relaxing your face and trying to convey it to the camera. And, consider botulinum toxin medicines (eg botox or dysport). They’ve been shown to not only loosen wrinkles, but in fact lift your mood and help you feel more relaxed and assured. That emotional change will show in your photos.
