Note: When you travel to the Philippines or any tropical countries, be aware that weather can be unpredictable at times. It can be humid and hot and rainy the next day. Insects spray/mosquito repellents should be handy especially when you are outdoor. Also, a weatherproof bag is useful to keep your valuables dry.

If you are a tourist or not from Mindanao flying into Cagayan De Oro via Laguindingan International Airport is the best route.  You may want to rent a car/taxi to take to the Balingoan-Benoni Ferry Port. Buses are great and cheap, but it will take you significantly longer to arrive.

From the Port of Benoni take a van/multi-cab/jeepney to Bahay-Bakasyunan sa Camiguin, or better yet contact the resort for pick up arrangement. The estimated travel time to arrive (4h 36min) includes the ferry travel time.

Gingoog City (Philippines)

VIA

Gingoog City|Gingoog .” in the Province of Misamis Oriental in the Northern Mindanao Region on Mindanao island. The city is approximately 122 kilometers (76 mi) east of Cagayan de Oro City and 74 kilometers (46 mi) west of Butuan City. It is bounded on the east by the Municipality of Magsaysay; on the west by the Municipality of Medina; on the south by the Municipality of Claveria, and on the north by Gingoog Bay. Its total land area is 56,844 hectares (140,460 acres).

The city was founded by Spanish missionaries in 1750. It was the oldest town in Misamis Oriental Province, even older than the province’s capital and economic hub, Cagayan de Oro, which was founded in 1871.

The term Gingoog originally came from the word “Hingoog,” which means “Goodluck,” from a Lumad tribe of Manobo who settled in the area. The name implies good fortune; thus Gingoog City means the City of Good Luck. The natives of this place are the ones with the family names of “Gingco,” and “Gingoyon.”

~WHERE TO EAT~

#1 Mansion By the Sea Even though Eastland has the restaurant, we decided to have lunch at Mansion By the Sea and get some seafood. If you love seafood, the mansion by the sea is the one to go. The place is casual and open air, and the food is always good.

After our lunch, we headed to check out Pahayahay sa Pantalan. Pahayahay is much like a boardwalk/a promenade along the beach. This is where friends and family came down to relax and enjoy the evening.

He got to try to drive the buggy, he said it wasn’t easy 🙂

After messing around at the pier, we proceed to Grahe SideWalk Grill for dinner and meet up with friends and family to do karaoke. It was a fun filled day!

The morning view from our room. Stressed and tired from a long flight? This place is a must to relax and unwind. It is beautiful here especially in the morning when the sun rises. So far we keep coming back to this place for at least 8 to 10 years now, and we always request to have the same room.
