Donna Fay, better known as Beauty Expert*TM, Resident Expert in Dr.’s office Steven Pearlman, MD in NYC has some tips for you about your annual beauty regime and trends to follow.
WINTER: Honey it is cold outside! With winter comes extra dry and delicate skin, which is why using an emollient moisturizer during winter is a must! The skin’s normal protective “oil barrier” wears off during the winter months as a result of exposure to the elements. Wind, snow, rain, you name it: it strips your skin of moisture.
Donna recommends using Nia Cream, to help keep your skin moisturized, hydrated and above all.
SPRING: It’s time to change up your grooming routine. Look for something that will help remove the dead skin cells that build up during the cold, flaky months. The Beauty Expert*TM recommends the Micropen, also known as micro-needling. During the procedure, a wand with tiny needles connected to the end glides across the surface of the skin, smoothing out all imperfections.
“This treatment is particularly beneficial for those with acne scarring. It’s a non-invasive way to smooth the skin, it’s painless, and depending on the intensity, results in minimal downtime. Truly a breakthrough treatment for uneven texture, and it produces results,” said Donna.
SUMMER: Heat. We all know who loves to appear this time of year. You guessed it: Mr Sun. When the sun is shining, many of us tend to squint more often. Especially during those long days at the beach. All of those expressions can result in lasting “lines” and wrinkles around the delicate eye area.
Botox is an amazing way to relax the muscles under the skin that move when a person squints, and reduce the likelihood of “Crow’s Feet” developing.
FALL: Once again, as we transition from the long, lazy days of summer to the cool frenzy of autumn, it is time to change things up. Many people experience sun-induced hyperpigmentation during the summer months, otherwise known as “brown spots”. Fall is an amazing time to evaluate your overall skin tone, and lighten it. Melanocytes, or pigment-producing cells, can be found deep beneath the skin’s surface.
Esthetician Donna Fay recommends a regimen of treatments, such as chemical peels, coupled with a strict skincare routine to treat dark spots and restore a more even skin tone. “It’s better to treat pigment chemically, with peels and topical products, than mechanically, such as microderm or body scrubs, because the pigment cells are deep beneath the surface of the skin. The right chemical peels and products can get to the root of the problem and brighten skin dramatically over time.”
As the season approaches, Donna has 3 easy “Quick Tips” for you to follow all year long.
“So simple, and so affordable for everyone!”- Donna Fay
#1 Get your beauty to sleep every night
#2 Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day
#3 Wear a broad spectrum SPF on exposed skin areas all year round
With lots of rest and much of hydration, that equals plenty of prevention.
Those 3 easy concepts are the staple and foundation for looking young and exquisite, both inside and out! Taking care of your health should at all times come first.
