Over the past few years, we have seen lots of changes to bridesmaids’ styles.
In the past, before things took a turn for the better for the bridesmaids, they would generally wear the very same dress. Thankfully, this trend has started to change in last few years and it is easier than ever now find bridesmaid dresses.
This is thrilling, because today’s brides look forward to seeing their bridesmaids mix things up by having dresses that incorporate different colours, fabrics, and styles. By changing their attitude towards this dress, brides have made it very fun and attractive for themselves, their bridesmaids, and others.
Here’s the thing…
The bride and bridesmaids alike will be facing new challenges now because of the mismatched look. If this isn’t handled properly, unfortunately, the bridal party can look very disjointed. So, to help everybody look terrific while embracing a mismatched style, use these tips to make your wedding party look consistent on your big day.
Keep the Dress Length the Same for Everyone
By now, everybody has seen the marriage photos on social media where all the bride and groom are posing lavishly next to them colourful candy buffet at a marriage and wearing a wide range of different styles of dress. Some of these photos look terrific. Others, not so much. I noticed one big difference between a photo that looks phenomenal and one that looks terrible.
Do you know what it’s? You guessed right! This is the length of the hem.
Oddly or not surprisingly enough, when the lengths of the hems were all mismatched and mixed up; it is quite difficult to create a consistent and unified look amongst members of the marriage party.
So if you are really looking to pull off a mismatched style, I highly recommend keeping the hem length the same for everybody.
Only Two Features Should Be Varyed
I like to tell those who seek my advice to only vary two things at most. This is an incredible way to make a difference in a bridesmaid’s dress while keeping most of it the same.
For example, two variations could be different colours and necklines, and ensure the colours are predetermined based on a certain color pattern.
Or, to mix it up in a different way, all the bridesmaid dresses should be the same color, but they can have different necklines and fabrics (brocade, cotton, ladies, chiffon, etc.)
Why only allow two different style varieties?
By keeping it easy and selecting two different varieties of styles and sticking to them, you allow everybody to look the same even with differences. And this will certainly stop serious confusion.
Choose Different Color Shades
For bridesmaid dresses, choosing a different dress color is a popular theme these days.
Unfortunately, sometimes it is difficult to choose the right color because designers only offer a limited selection of colours.
Another thing to remember is the small color swatches. Once these dresses are made totally in a dress, the colours can often appear significantly different than they appear on the card.
But obviously it is possible to choose different color shades to match.
An easy way to choose is to use a visualization to determine how they will look together. Always check a full sized sample during the day. And while you are at it, take the time to alternate between different color options until you find a combination you like.
If you are worried about conflict between the marriage party, take the time to choose the colour each bridesmaid wants to wear.
Conclusion
Take a moment to read these rules and use them to help choose a bridesmaid dress. When all is claimed and done, they will make the process easier and smoother for everybody involved.
