Being a project manager is never easy. You are responsible for each aspect of the project, from financing, budgeting, leading the team, marketing and sales. Everything is on your shoulders and only you are responsible to the board. This is not a position for the weak, those who cannot handle criticism from all sides and need to line people up sometimes and are disliked, you should not put your name forward for a project manager. Thick skin
Project managers sometimes must kick butt and take names. And if you are someone who cannot handle your team disliking you on certain days, you may find it hard to stay emotionally stable. So many people want their team to like them as a project manager, but this isn’t reality. Of course, on a personal level they may not have a problem with you but on a professional level, they may have some choice of words. you just need to do it have thick skin, can take criticism of your leadership, but also bring it up when your team is not doing in addition to it should. It also means you must be critical, study their behavior and performance, and supply an accurate assessment of their failures throughout the project.
Budgeting skills
You are responsible for expenses but you aren’t responsible for funding. The board and or CEO is responsible for providing you with the funding you need to complete a project and when you need more there will at all times be a push from the powers above. So rather than having to justify more funds and getting stuck in the mire as a result of an absence of spending control, have fun financial project serve. They can log everything for you, track daily expenses and expenses, and notify you when you are near going over your limit. Obviously this will make your job a lot easier as you can focus on using your funds and letting someone else monitor and track your budget trends.
