7 day detox challenge to help control your skin
Skin detox doesn’t suggest you will go to extremes to get a natural glow. In fact, you’ll be doing things that benefit your entire body. Here’s a 7-day detox plan that will help you prioritize healthy skin.
Monday
Stay hydrated
It is suggested that you drink at least 8 glasses of water per day, but that can be very difficult to do, particularly on your busy days. To start your detox, drink a big glass of water as soon as you wake up and make sure to carry a water bottle with you wherever you go. This will make you feel more energized, rid your body of poisons, and help keep your skin soft and moisturized.
Tuesday
Watch your diet
A large part of your detox will involve being be conscious about what you eat. Foods like red meat, diary, and sugar are known to irritate your skin, so try to focus on eating lean protein, and fresh fruit and vegetables. Eating well can help fight inflammation and keep collagen fibers tight. Of course, we do not need to mention how harmful things like alcohol, smoking, and extreme caffeine consumption can do to your skin. For this week, forget everything.
Wednesday
Get your 8 hours of sleep
It’s the middle of the week, so if you have not slept well then tonight is the night. The saying ‘beauty sleep’ has some truth to it, and we can prove it, just see how good your skin looks and feels after 8 hours of rest.
Thursday
It’s time to get energetic
You may be thinking – how can exercise benefit my skin? Getting your heart pumping increases blood flow and helps nourish your skin cells. We will not go into the science behind it, but we also know that it removes waste products from working cells. Hit the gym, jog, or enjoy cycling and you are sure to see (and feel) the benefits.
Friday
Exfoliate wisely
Exfoliation is the key to your skin’s success. It is extremely important to remove dead skin that can cause dull, dry skin and clog your pores. It also leads the way for moisturizers which will penetrate deeper into your skin and therefore provide more hydration. Once you have exfoliated and moisturized, your skin will even be in the best shape to apply natural fake tan. Make Friday night your pampering night.
Saturday
Prepare a DIY face mask
Now that the weekend is here, you should have plenty of time to prepare fresh face masks that will provide your skin with the nutrition it deserves. Making your own face mask means you will know precisely what ingredients are in it, allowing you to avoid the nasty chemicals that can cause problems for your skin. Make your own or Check out some of these great natural face masks.
Sunday
Give your skin time to breathe
It’s important to give your skin time to breathe, so if you can, go makeup-free on Sunday. Yes, it might feel strange at first, but your skin will certainly thank you for it. Who knows, after your detox, you might want to go bare-faced a few days a week.
