The Band of Outsiders Spring 2015 collection is clearly inspired by the preppy American style of the mid-60s but with a modern twist. The line is full of classic shapes like trench coats, sweaters, sweatshirts, and trousers, but that’s where the classics end.
Think Mad Men style trenches, barbeque dad style cardigans and shorts meets hipster psychedelic. This season introduced a collaboration with Mackintosh, bringing three “MACs” to the lineup. “Inside Out MAC” highlights the construction of the jacket with its literal inside-out design. “Grommets Gone Wild MAC” plays on the idea of an impenetrable raincoat by strategically placing grommets throughout the coat which is more fashionable than functional. For the “Future MAC” Band made of the lightest possible nylon with a distinctive traditional style enameled button. Holographic images, abstract shapes, color streaks, and rivet jewels take these pieces from boring to hilarious. Look for this Band of Outsiders collection for sale in early spring 2015.
