Modern times have broadened the scope of what Americans consider lovely, while at the same time, it has also introduced social media—an ever-present reminder of how one looks.
In an effort to better understand these changes, L’Oréal Paris recently commissioned a study with Ipsos that engaged women in the subject and shared some of the top insights into this evolution of beauty.
Changing Value
Women are changing their way of looking at beauty to a more holistic, progressive and optimistic vision. The majority of ladies see beauty differently than 10 years ago. They believe beauty is about progress — not perfection — and are optimistic about continuing to be lovely as they age.
Most surveyed acknowledged that while women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s are generally considered to be “looking old,” women of the same age are currently “on their toes.” In addition, beauty standards have changed and evolved as our culture, the global community, has become more diversified.
Skin Care Is Still “Decent”
While many factors play a role in beauty, skincare and appearance determines how lovely a lady is, according to survey respondents, particularly in the age of social media. Beauty routines can be time-consuming; however, women firmly believe that the elements of skincare are “worth it”.
“We are seeing a big shift in the routines of millennial women. Four out of five skin care products used are cleansers. This is very different from what we have seen in the past,” said Dr. Rocio Rivera, L’Oréal Paris director of scientific communications.
Among the top regimens that ladies incorporate into their skincare is the use of at-home face masks that cleanse and beautify the skin by absorbing oil and dirt.
“I’m often asked ‘what are some small ways to make a difference at home?’ Regular masks are the answer,” says Vanessa Hernandez, celebrity esthetician. “Finding one that is tailored to your skin type is essential and from there, it’s like a mini facial in the comfort of your home.”
To find one that’s tailor-made for you, first determine your skin type. L’Oréal’s Pure Clay Mask, for example, is produced from globally sourced clay minerals and is offered in three varieties for specific skin needs — whether you want to reduce excess shine, reduce dullness and even out skin tone, or exfoliate and tighten pores. -pore.
Inner Beauty
How women feel inside determines how lovely they feel overall. In describing what made them lovely, the ladies surveyed explained a number of emotional traits — and these qualities varied from generation to generation.
Cultivating confidence is important for Millennials as they transition from their 20s to their 30s. There is hope amongst them that they will continue to grow stronger and healthier. For boomers, staying active and feeling young is important to them as they become older. However, personality is timeless. Women of all ages and ethnicities believe their outlook on life is a big part of what makes them feel lovely, the researchers concluded.
From new skincare habits to new outlooks, women see beauty differently these days and take different steps to accomplish it.
