The nights were drawing near and there was a chill in the air! Time to get out of your winter clothes guys… But if you want to stay warm while looking cool, this year’s winter trends will make you look good.
Men’s fashion for winter 2018/19 is completely on your side with some great styling options. Also there are several opportunities to take out some items that may be taking up wardrobe space.
Retro Jacket
Is Macklemore to blame for the Thrift Store fashion that still influences our high street? Either way, we’re happy to share that your old oversized jacket from the 70s is still trending.
We’re talking heavy leather jackets with wool trim, heavy furs from the ’90s or old school NFL team jackets that appear to be everywhere anymore.
Upper layer
Can’t decide what to wear? No problem, use all of them. Yup, this winter is all about layers so stack them. Most catwalk shows during the year pile on layers so if anyone asks you why you are wearing four shirts, tell them it is because Fendi said so.
Let’s hope it truly is winter or we can get a little stuffy down there…
Wool is Good
We do not wear enough wool. Seriously, wool is among the best fabrics out there and folks are realizing its benefits this year. A thick knit wool sweater is at all times an excellent idea and if you are going someplace that’s really cold, do not forget that basic layer of merino wool.
But do not limit the wool to the top. Wool boots is a really good buy if you want to keep your feet warm and dry this winter. And like those wool jumpers, wool boots are built to last.
Brown is the New Black
Fall colours add a little bit of detail to your outfit, so avoiding black is a good thing. Tan leather jacket, camel macintosh coat, heavy brown boots, rust-colored jeans. Whichever color you choose, brown is all the rage this winter, so ensure it is present in at least part of your wardrobe…
Cardigans
OK, not all men look great in cardigans, but they layer well (see second point above). Choose a chunky knit cardigan, ideally wool in a neutral color like gray or light brown.
Newsboy Hat
Hat fashion tends to be cyclical (there’s only so many hat styles, after all), but maybe Peak Blinders The effect has boosted Newsboy’s appeal. Somewhat similar to a flat cap, the Newsboy has a higher profile and while it will not suit everybody, it absolutely has style.
Ideally, do not coat your own with razor blades like Cillian Murphy’s character Tommy Shelby…
