68th The Annual Cannes Festival, the quintessential French Film Festival, wrapped up last night, but where do you think most of the Film Industry and tete a tete events are held?
Rudolf-August Oetker and Son August Oetker in 2003
Odd enough for a largely French Festival, in a hotel owned by a German industrial family. Rudolf-August Oetker retired as Executive Director in 1981, passing the position to his son Oetker August (Jr.).

In Los Angeles if I ever want to get away from my home, it is the Chateau Marmont. The Chateau Marmont rules without competition now that the Beverly Hills Hotel has been boycotted ever since someone realized that sharia law means death for the subjects of the sultan who occur to be gay. Now even twenty years of JEWISH services held on Saturdays cannot give them permission. FYI, the Beverly Hills Hotel boycott was spearheaded by Jeffrey Katzenberg has affected the whole Dorchester chain but particularly the Beverly Hills Hotel. “We’d better get up and kick these people’s ass,” the film maestro Harvey Weinstein said about the current anti-Semitism when he accepted a Humanitarian Award at the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s National Honors Dinner Tuesday night at the Beverly Hilton. “We have to be organized like the mafia,” he continued. “We can’t take it anymore [from] this crazy bastard.” I personally have all the time been a supporter of Simon Wiesenthal Centerwith the founders, Rabbi Hier and former Dutch Ambassador, my uncle, Roland Arnal.
Jay Leno and the Beverly Hills Hotel Protest
Insiders at The Boycott the Beverly Hills Hotel group say the boycott may have other issues such as unions, or potential buyers trying to drive down prices. I personally see it as a double standard — can we watch movies financed by countries that practice Sharia law, but not stay in their hotels?
The owner of du Cap seems to understand you cannot act like a “jerk”. They replaced the old manger, Jean-Claude Irondelle, with a new manager. Irondelle just uses her powers too arbitrarily.
Jean-Claude Irondelle
Being dumped or even abused in a hotel can cause serious damage to one’s career in the film industry, with repercussions such as Bret Ratner’s negative Variety article. The old manager’s own actions put the hotel in a dangerous situation, and also took away the grandiose feeling of the Festival. After the management left, things got better. Gym in the hotel Very good.
While Du Cap has hosted AMFAR for years, Harvey Weinstein served as Chair.
Interestingly when I started Bold Films with Michel Litvak, together Gary Michael Walters, I recommended and negotiated their sponsorship for AMFAR. Incidentally, Bold made two great movies recently, “WHIPLASH” and “NIGHT CRAWLER”.
In Venice it’s Hotel Cipriani, Paris may be Bristol, but when in Cannes it’s Hotel du Cap. There’s really nothing like it, even though last year it was at Cannes Victorino and that I stayed at the Carlton, and it was great too. Where does one begin to describe the virtues of Du Cap, although, because it is at least complicated, but let’s say it starts with Service. The staff is managed by the French General Manager Philippe Perdwho, together with his Belgian counterpart, Laurent Van Hoegaerden, is Batman and Robin from their castle, answered the owner.
The Assistant Manager was great. I know every waitress and each bartender and each member of the waitstaff. The Eden Roc section sits on the sea with an impressive posture.

Leonardo DiCaprio
Not today F Scott Fitzgerald But Leo DiCaprio hold court. It’s tennis time, so the clay courts are perfect or as the French say “perfect”. I normally play with my friends Prince Cyrus Pahlavi who has been a regular guest at the hotel since his family fled Iran. Lunch is all the time excited with the presence of the Grand Wizard of Cannes, Harvey Weinstein.
With the Cannes Film Festival in France going on, I wanted to share the history of this place, a place I know very well. Bordering the French Riviera, surrounded by lush trees, is the Hotel du Cap at Eden Roc, a luxury hotel near the festival. But do not be fooled by its beauty; it is far from perfect. There is a long and tumultuous history hidden behind the walls.
This hotel was founded in 1887 by hotelier Antoine Sella. It was comparatively normal until around 1920 when writers like Ernest Hemingway And F. Scott Fitzgerald flocked there for inspiration. In fact, Fitzgerald-based Tenders are Night’s Hotel Gausse from this one. At that time, it became a haven for artists.
Collected in what the hotel calls its Gold Book are contributions from a list of direct Aces. Clint Eastwood rub signature with Sharon Batu; Jennifer López with Colin Firth. Turn on the page Ralph Fiennes and there Mick Jagger. The “book” is a collection of fine leather sheets that will ultimately be preserved between the covers. So Dustin Hoffman And Jim Belushi one day will bond with Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett And Geoffrey Rush; Mel Gibsons will share a stiff jacket with Celine Dion, Bruce Willis with Audrey Tautou, Andy Garcia with Grace Jones. Gordon Gekko, James Bond And Sherlock Holmes have signed on as their alter ego Michael Douglas, Pierce Brosnan And Robert Downey Jr.
In the hotel’s first Gold Book, now locked in Paris, there’s graffiti Chagall And Picasso. Here we must be content with deft caricatures Johnny Depp – and quick sketches by the likes Tom Hanks.
Johnny Depp Leaves a Self-Portrait
In 1946, when the Cannes Film Festival started, it was the place to live. Star like Charlie Chaplin And Marlene Dietrich stayed in the hotel because of its lavish amenities and proximity to the festival and was soon joined by many other celebrities going to the festival. Elizabeth Taylorthe baggage got there by truck; Mel Gibsons show up with 300 friends; Sharon Batu ordered Nebuchadnezzar champagne – and a harpist.

This year the best party in Cannes at the Hotel du Cap was Harvey Weinstein/ AMFAR’s Annual Party, which was an enormous hit this year, raised an estimated $33 million.

At the exclusive Hotel Du Cap-Eden Roc in Cap D’Antibes, star Natalie Portman, Antonio Banderas, Mary J. Blige, Adrien Brody, Michelle Rodriguez And Paris Hilton proposed to a garden party themed “Divine”.
Delevine’s way
However, it was all not without a little bit of controversy, but most of the secrets that have yet to be revealed, as those who frequent Du Cap have taken an unstated oath to bear in mind of what happened at Cap du Antibes remain at Cap du Antibes.
The exclusivity of the Hôtel du Cap convinces visitors that they’re all members of a rare society, and so are they Kennedy quickly find themselves mingling with other select guests, including households Dietrich.
Robert Kennedy Joe Kennedy John and Joan in 1938 at the Hotel du Cap
In August 1938, when Joe Kennedy meet Marlene Dietrichtheir liaison, performed under the noses of other partners and lovers, brings the two families together.
Works at duCap, joe (Kennedy) keeps in touch with London and Washington, assisted by a wonderful young French girl who takes his dictations, while Rose and the kids have their own separate routines. Their paths soon cross with Mary’s, and with each passing day, Dietrich’s highly isolated teenage daughter becomes more and more infatuated with all the Kennedys, particularly Jack.
Strong, passionate and self-absorbed, these two giants, Joe Kennedy and Dietrich, spend their time together at du Cap trading Hollywood gossip in addition to views on the international landscape. Marlene had worked actively on behalf of refugees fleeing her homeland, and in 1937 had applied for American citizenship, for which she was lambasted in the German press in addition to by the Hearst newspaper, which condemned her with the headline, “Deserts Her Native Land. ”
Long after Joe’s death, Dietrich has a brief meeting with Jack in the President’s office after which he asks if she really had an affair with his father. He denies it, which can only be believed because of an unstated rule of secrecy about what goes on at the hotel.
Another well-kept secret is that this very famous French resort is really owned by a German industrial family, oetker family, which has owned not only many French hotels, but a worldwide industry since the late 1800s.
