On December 20 the Miss Universe 2015 competition takes place and will be one to remember.
When announcing runner up and Miss Universe Steve Harvey made the error of a lifetime. Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, was crowned, but she was only the first runner up – not the winner.
After Miss Colombia was fully crowned, Steve Harvey awkwardly corrected the error. The crown was then removed and presented to the rightful winner, Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, leaving Miss Colombia shocked and confused.
Taking full responsibility, Harvey said, “Let me control this. Here’s what’s on the cards. I will be responsible for this. It was my mistake. It’s in the cards.
Miss Universe 2015 and Miss Colombia did not let that mistake shake their relationship. On the Miss Universe Facebook page, Wurtzbach wrote, “To Ariadna, you are an incredible woman and we are now bound together eternally through a special experience. In our last 3 weeks together, I saw how strong and exquisite you are inside and out. You represented your country with honor and that I understand how proud everyone seems to be of you. Fate has a plan for you, and I’m excited to see what happens.”[1]
Harvey just could not get enough of this event. Fans have created tons of memes joking about the entire debacle.
