While most of the activity during New York Fashion Week is centered on Lincoln Center, anyone familiar with the event knows how it literally takes over the city. SOCIAL Magazine does the rounds and follows trends, but our “base” for this week is on the Lower East Side at Adriana Marie Co. (AMco) “Fashion with a Purpose” appears at 103 Allen St. 8 – 10.
The aim of this pop up is to provide a platform for local designers, entrepreneurs and creatives to showcase their designs to media, consumers and industry professionals. Without a doubt, that is what happened there.
Of course, Adriana Marie stood out in this exhibition with her famously soft and comfy T-shirts and other pieces with her signature “wow” factor that send positive, motivating, empowering vibes and good karma.
Part of the brand’s DNA are AMco’s partnerships with non-profits, artists and musicians drawing attention not only to the brand itself, but to the causes and artistry related to continuing its theme of positivity.
Also a standout is the Ella Dania Made in New York handbag. Her handbags are customized and manufactured domestically using the best leather, gemstones and metal fittings. One of the eye-catching handbags featured and embellished a shiny polished dinosaur bone clasp. Not only is this a special feature of this handbag, it also generates quite a little bit of buzz when it pops up. It should even be noted that five percent of the acquisition price of the Ella Dania bag goes to a non-profit organization that benefits women in need.
Nothing finishes off an ensemble like quality jewellery. The AMco pop up caught the eye of Irini Jewelry for bold, stylish, unique pieces crafted from the best cuts of sterling, gold, diamonds and other precious stones.
In addition to these prominent players, AMco’s pop ups showcase other services and products such as: Stoli (which provides drinks on site), Cookie Republic (which serves vegan, gluten-free cakes and snacks), Little Miracles Energy Drinks, Uber, Vita Coco, and N4 Med Spa (a complete medical spa and hot spot).
The pop up has also attracted several famous people including Dwight Eubanks (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”), Steve Boi (stylist and designer for Lady Gaga), Christi (Oxygen Network’s “Brooklyn 11223”), Marisa (Bravo’s The Singles Project”), MNKRT, Stefani Vara (singer/songwriter), Michael Antonio (celebrity photographer), and Alisa Reves (Disney/Nickelodeon).
All in all, Fashion Week was great not only for Adriana Marie and her pop up shop, but also for SOCIAL Magazine (given out in a gift bag). Everyone involved is enthusiastic about this year’s event and looking out forward to larger and better things to come.
