Pakistan Fashion Design Council Pioneer [PFDC] and L’Oréal Paris, the world’s leading beauty brand, brought together Pakistan’s most coveted designers to showcase their bridal and bridal wear collections at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2014. Thick jacquard teamed with silk tulle and organza, this collection didn’t disappoint as far as dresses fairytale brides go, complete with elaborate embellishments and embroidery, dramatic draperies and accessories.
The season’s line-up includes seasoned bridal favorites like Sana Safinaz and NickieNina skillfully recreating the traditional bride with soft silhouettes, to Fahad Hussayn’s avant-garde glitz and Ali Zeeshan’s structured skits. Veteran bridal HSY’s bold push from conventional red to a primarily black bridal line is a surprising departure from her previous collection.
Designers who are new to the bridal world have also come up with lovely serene silhouettes. Sania Maskatiya and Misha Lakhani show that the old is still new, with a nostalgic look at the subcontinent’s historic Mughal history.
