It’s time of year again and the vacation cheer has finally begun. People put up Christmas trees, line their homes in bright lights, and malls are flooded with sneakerheads. Over the past few years, the Jordan brand brought out one of its most famous models, the Air Jordan 11 for December release. In previous years, sneakerheads have graced Race, Concord, Cool Grey, Gamma Blue, Columbia, and now Space Jam for the second time.
Everyone knows the iconic story of Space Jam with Michael Jordan teaming up with the Looney Toons to defeat the unstoppable Monstars. Jordan wore the iconic Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” during filming and the craze hasn’t stopped since 1996. The last time fans were gifted an Air Jordan 11 Space Jam was back in 2009 and it was absolutely nuts. Entire malls are flooded, lines form around buildings, and the national news portrays sneakerheads as consumers mad. This time around things are looking a bit more subdued because of the market entry and the hefty price label of $220. Brand Jordan promises that nearly everybody will have an opportunity to get their hands on their pair this year, but do for the hype of this release that’s yet to be seen.
This new 2016 model goes hand-in-hand with Jordan Brand’s remastered line, which is why the price increases. This model most closely resembles the original 1996 model seen in the film. The black patent leather returns to its great texture, the jumpman faces the same way unlike any other pair released in last few years, and is finally finished off with an ice blue base. Inside the shoe is “Nike Air” branding and the biggest change is the 45 logo on the back of the shoe. Some sneakerheads like the 45 on the back and a few cannot get on the back.
December never fails as the best time for release and this year hopefully wins again. The Air Jordan 11 Space Jam will be released this Saturday, December 10 in bulk but do not take that as a guarantee. This release was highly anticipated and had to sell out unlike the Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” which was a disappointment. Check out the pictures below and good luck grabbing this classic!
