Food lovers can not help but entertain. Sitting around a table enjoying a delicious meal and laughing and joking is a fantastic way to spend an evening. And, if a few bottles of wine are thrown in for good measure, so be it.
Organizing a dinner party is not as easy as putting together a menu and alluring guests. There is plenty of preparatory work that needs to be done in every aspect of the evening. Do people drive or get taxis? What are their dietary restrictions? Did you invite a vegan?!
To help cover all the basics, here are four rules to remember.
Invite Mix
Parties fail when too many of the same personalities are at the table. Consider a wonderful, quiet person. Yes, they’re harmless and plenty of fun when you get to know them, but they’re way too shy. It takes a boisterous and flamboyant individual to bring out its dark side. And, there had to be people in between, people who were flashy but could level up and relax. Inviting your friends is not a smart move. Think about their personality before expanding an invite.
Don’t Serve Complicated Meals
Imagine Mexican dishes gracing the table. What an incredible way to share and get people engaged. The problem is chaos. Making and eating tacos is difficult work as they seep out the sides and fall onto the plate below (if you are lucky). Watching a group of adults try to attack a cuisine that’s foreign to them is pretty grim, if not hilarious at the same time. A better option is to simplify the night. If you like sharing plates try the Spanish tapas or put on the wings, onion rings etc. on the slate and hit it in the middle.
Stay Above Temperature
Nothing ruins a dinner party like rock-cold food. Regardless of the taste, it is impossible to disregard the indisputable fact that the entire food needs a blast in the microwave. The guests will not ask because they’re polite, so they will grin and bear it and have a good time. Think about when the food will be served and how long it will last. When it is old, place it on an Indian tray with a candle underneath to maintain temperature. Cooling wine needed too. Don’t spoil the vino by letting it warm in the kitchen.
Never Panic
God, everything is wrong. Quick, what should I do? This post may not have a direct link to the Almighty; however, we’re pretty sure He advises you not to panic. Emphasize just cause the hostess is worried, and it destroys the decision-making process. The key is to fight back, so you need a clear head. Hopefully, you have bought spare parts, so put them in the oven and alter the serving time a bit. The guests will not know so long as you stay calm.
