Bronx native and up-and-coming superstar, Kat Capone, has loved art since the dawn of her time. She has explored a broad range of her talents taking dance classes such as ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop, allowing her to discover so many various sides of herself. We can understand her passion and know that she will go far, “I danced before I could speak. I won’t ever give up,” said Capone. In future she also wants to get entangled with acting since she studied film and method acting at school but for now the other part of the art that she has excelled at is music. Not just listening to music while dancing or anywhere else but music that comes from itself: the sound. Hearing the songs of artists in his youth such as Madonna, Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and particularly Toni Braxton pushed him towards singing and since then he has done very well pursuing his career in it.
When listening to his music, you can hear how the artists who were most influenced by him appear in his songs. Touching on points like love, nostalgia, inspiration, and going through the EP containing 5 tracks and 1 bonus track, Summer 22 which was released on iTunes on January 15, 2013, to great reviews and kept everybody waiting even longer. Many may wonder why it is called Summer 22, Capone tells us why:
“We all have a summer where you fall in love, or you have a summer of fun, or you travel the world, or party 7 nights a week and for me that was Summer when I was 22….I just wanted to do a project that lighthearted and talk about those moments.”
Oh yes, we all must have experienced this and so far the age must have been different depending on the person, everybody can recall those moments when listening to Summer 22.
Currently on YouTube a song called “Losing My Mind” has been released for one more upcoming EP “Paper Cuts”. It will be available this fall on iTunes. The project focused on paper cutouts around the heart, Capone’s struggles while making his music and how he lost his mind so that other people could lose their minds because of his music. “I based the video on the film Black Swan. It’s fun to do, I had so much fun making it. I’m looking forward to making more videos for this project, it must be really interesting.” he tells us.
Because he continues to think outside the box, his creativity is continually evolving and his persistence never stops. As he tells us:
“Do not be afraid to fail. Use that as a lesson for the next step. People don’t fail. Strategy and tactics done. Have determination, perseverance and courage. Lucille Ball once said, “I’m not funny, I’m just brave.” And I believe that goes for all entertainers.
With all of her projects coming together, we’ll continue to see her develop as her career continues to develop. Now, you can find him performing locally across the US but ultimately he’d love to tour other countries like Africa, Ireland, Australia, Japan and the UK.
