Owner and Chef, Salvatore Coppola, of “Coppola Italian Restaurant” in NYC, uses genuine family recipes from his childhood in Naples Italy. Unlike most restaurateurs, Coppola spends long hours in the kitchen for both establishments. Restaurants cover each side of Manhattan, one on 79th Street and the other in the Gramercy Area on 3rd Avenue. The menu offers a broad range of great tasting experiences. Many of Coppola’s pasta dishes, such as Linguine con Frutti di Mare, are guaranteed to be as fresh as they’re satisfying.
Standout dishes include the Pappardelle con Carne which is tender spare ribs slow cooked for over 2 hours, with a side of carrot mashed potatoes, true to the term “mashed”. The brick oven pizza has over a dozen toppings to pick from, a variation including roasted eggplant, pepperoni, black olives, prosciutto and artichoke hearts, all made with a perfectly crispy crust, crushed plum tomatoes and first-class mozzarella.
The intimate and charming decoration creates the best atmosphere. The cozy dining area is softly lit with a calming atmosphere that’s classier, but still casual. This restaurant also provides a private room for parties, catering, and even a take out menu. The staff make you feel right at home, which is why on any given night you can meet a number of New Yorkers or visit celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Nicolas Cage and Eric Johnson. With professional, knowledgeable service and fresh, made-to-order food, every neighborhood should have a Coppola restaurant.
