Florida is a lovely place to live and a lovely place to visit. But too many Americans do not have time for fun, in Florida or anywhere else. More than half of all Americans leaving vacation time on the table at the end of the year. Americans report being stressed, and they also report being overworked. If only more of us could find time to go on vacations to places like Jupiter, Florida then we might have a better chance of keeping our stress levels down.
The undeniable fact that so many Americans insist on working too hard leads to a drop in productivity levels. When you focus too much on school or work, you may really spoil things that you want to prioritize. Studies show that people who take time off are more productive and more creative when they return. In other words, hanging out in Florida for a week or two can really make you better at your job! Going on vacation will do you a world of good, particularly if you stay active and engaged in ways that are good for your body and mind.
You need rest
Fatigue is very real. Americans who work too hard too long can become physically and mentally exhausted. You do not have to do strenuous physical work to end up in a burnout situation. Any work is sufficient to wear us out if we focus on it to the exclusion of other things that are important to our health.
The research is obvious: Vacations reduce the likelihood of burnout and actively make us more productive when we return. If your goal is to work as hard as possible, you should take a vacation!
Of course, even if a vacation does not make you more productive, it is still a good idea. This is nice for you!
Your vacation and health

Resting your mind will have long term health benefits. Likewise with being active and enjoying the sun. With proper sun protection, you’ll physically benefit from time outdoors. Sunlight helps our body metabolize vitamin D.
And, obviously, being active on vacation is nice for you. If you jog, swim, or enjoy water sports in Florida, you are also burning calories, strengthening your muscles, and helping your heart grow stronger!
Work-life balance and long-term goals
Vacationing in Florida is an excellent first step towards a healthier lifestyle. But do not stop there! You might be capable to work longer hours from home, for example, or change jobs so you have shorter commutes. Maybe you can take online learning self-assessment and slot into an online degree program that fits your busy schedule. Or maybe work-life balance will just require you to stand up for yourself — you can stop answering those emails on the weekends, for example, and you can stop accepting every opportunity to work overtime.
