For those who have at all times wanted to find out how to surf, there is maybe no better place to take up such a hobby. With beaches ranging from wild and wild waves, to calm and slow moving, the ocean will prove to be a friendly companion in your pursuit for the perfect barrel.
However, an even more extraordinary way to experience the ocean is to meet its most famous inhabitants: the whales! During the colder months of the year, meaning from June to November, these astonishing creatures migratego through the region, and you can join a boat ride to take you as near the center of the action as possible, amidst the friendly dance of the whales.

Join the local beat
It does not matter if you plan to stay a week or a month, you should at all times know and learn what’s on the Sunshine Coast and what events are best for you to attend. Don’t be fooled by the region’s low-key spirit, as in addition to being an awesome place to relax and keep away from the crowds, the Sunshine Coast is also a wonderful option for getting to know the local culture.
The best way to do this is to visit for several years local annual event, like Noosa live! takes place in July, when many famous musicians, filmmakers and even cooks join forces to create a brilliant atmosphere. Go to Noosa
Any visit to this region won’t be complete without a stop in Noosa National Park, one of Australia’s most famous treasure troves of natural wonders. By far the best way to absorb the local beauty is to hike one of the trails, all of which are astonishing and will send chills down your spine with dramatic views of the coast and rainforest stretching for miles.
You can expect a number of wildflowers, rich eucalyptus trees and dense rainforest foliage teeming with wildlife. Keep an eye out for sleepy koalas and other friendly critters while you can head to Dolphin Point and try to see the incredible beauty rising out of the waves.

Beach-hop
To justify its well-deserved name, the Sunshine Coast won’t disappoint with stretches of shoreline as far as the eye can see. This is where some of Australia’s best and most charming beaches can be found, and you should do your best to see all of them and dip your toes in the sea. The first to stop by are Noosa North Beach and Pelangi Beach, from where you can even get to Fraser Island by ferry.
The beach is an 80-kilometer stretch of sparkling sand, where you can enjoy quiet days at the beach, adventurous 4WD trips (with a permit, obviously), and the occasional unobtrusive company of local wildlife such as kangaroos. For a more lively experience, but still nothing quite like the Bondi buzz, head to Mooloolaba Beach, preferably on an empty stomach for some local food by the beach!

Explore villages
The Sunshine Coast will surprise you with its variety: just beyond its sizzling beaches are the Blackall Mountains in all their lush emerald glory. It’s the best way to enjoy the refreshing mountain air while taking the time to explore the villages of Montville and Malenyand the surrounding beauty.
