Argentina is a large and diversified country. To visit all of them in a week is almost impossible, but you can hit the hotspots. Must-visit places include Buenos Aires, the Valdes Peninsula, and Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego. There’s so much more to Argentina, but if you only have a week, here’s how to squeeze it all out.
First day your Argentina tour, fly to Buenos Aires airport, then transfer to your hotel in Buenos Aires. You might want to relax in your hotel, otherwise you might want to head into town for some delicious food, such as the famous Argentinian barbeque lamb chops and empanadas, and wash it down with a fine glass of Argentinian wine.
The second day, came out to tour the city. Known as the “Paris of South America”, Buenos Aries has a romantic feel. As you walk the streets, pay attention to European architecture. Some places to visit are; National Congress Parliament building, Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada Government Building, Metropolitan Cathedral and Colonial Town Hall Cabildo For lunch, head to Recoleta to browse boutiques, gourmet restaurants and sidewalk cafes. In the evening, enjoy a porteña, dinner and tango show, at probably the most exclusive tango houses, Esquina Carlos Gardel, in the Abasto neighborhood.
The third day fly to Puerto Madryn. There are spectacular wildlife reserves and scuba diving centers on the Valdes Peninsula. Be sure to get a hotel with a beach view, as there is a good chance you can spot one of the world’s rarest whales, the southern right whale from your window. They come very near shore at some points of the year. Take a city break or perhaps browse along the shops of downtown Puerto Madryn.
The fourth day Your Argentina tour will be a tour of the Valdes Peninsula. After breakfast at your hotel, head to Puerto Piramides in the Valdes Peninsula nature reserve. Between June and December, you can even take a whale watching tour.
Fifth day, you will want to head to Ushuaia, probably the most remote and most lovely locations in Argentina’s wild Patagonia. Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world. Morning of the fifth day, fly from Valdes Peninsula airport to Ushuaia airport, then transfer to your Ushuaia hotel. There are plenty of hotels to select from, some of which can be found right on the Beagle Channel.
