The Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic is Back with a Bang
It’s Tee time again at Oheka Castle in Huntington, Long Island. The highly anticipated return of Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic is slated for June 28 and 29 and attendees and guests have already cleared their calendars for the action.
In 2010, Rich “Big Daddy” Salgado, President and CEO of Insurance Consultants Coastal Advisors LLC, launched a charity event that has attracted many celebrities from the world of professional sports and entertainment. After an unfortunate COVID-19-related hiatus, Salgado is happy to bring it back this year and expand his goals at the same time.
This year, Salgado entered into a partnership with SHER, a women’s empowerment organization founded by Anzhelika Steen-Olsen. As a result, this normally golf-centric event will boast a women’s empowerment lunch followed by an evening event. The SHER portion of the event will feature key celebrity speakers and musical acts. Participants will also receive gift bags from sponsors, David Yurman and Dior.
This year’s Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic beneficiaries are the Veterans and Players Association (MVP) and the Orthopedic Foundation. Founded by Jay Glazer and Nate Boyer, MVP brings together war veterans and experienced athletes through peer-to-peer physical fitness and support programs. The Orthopedic Foundation promotes the development of orthopedic surgery and care for youngsters and adults.
Among the well-known celebrities already lining up for the link are Michael Strahan, Justin Tuck, Zack Moss, Steve Levy, Scott Ferrall, Anita Marks, Jim Trotter Merril Hoge and Neil O’Donnell. Outside of the course, other attendees included Jill Nicolini, Jeff Hoffman, Tracy Morgan, Curtis Martin, John Randle, Stanley Cup Champion Dennis Seidenberg, Hisham Tawfiq and Jeff Hoffman, founder priceline.com and Chair of the Global Entrepreneurship Network. NFL Network Host, Brian Baldinger is also a committed participant. This is, obviously, only part of the list of great names that exist, but there will be others as well.
“Lunch is going to be a magical time,” says Steen-Olsen. “Sharing stories of women overcoming obstacles and finding ways to thrive shows what SHER is. This is a way of life.”
“We went all out for the Big Daddy Celebrity Gold Classic this year,” added Salgado. “It’s been great to not only raise money and awareness for the MVP and Orthopedic Foundation, but also to bring the important work of women empowerment that SHER brings to the event.”
Of course, COVID protocols are enforced with outdoor and indoor participant capacity at Oheka Castle, and tests are requested by invitation with results reported 24 hours before the event.
