Vegas has a reputation as a gambler’s paradise and an expensive city, but that’s not all it has to offer. Try these inexpensive things to do in Vegas.
More than 42 million people visited Las Vegas last year. It is probably the most popular travel destinations in the country and offers a broad range of activities. It is probably best known for its “vice-city” status, where gambling and booze abounded.
However, despite its reputation for gambling, not everybody does. Vegas offers a number of activities that don’t have anything to do with gambling. This city can even be enjoyed if you’re short on cash.
We’ll talk more about some of the cheap things to do in Vegas in the paragraphs below.
1. Top Shot
Top Shot is a really unique experience. Part shooting range, part videogame, and part survival scenario, this is far from the range of your average rifle. Top Shot offers a number of activities. It contains virtual shooting ranges and videogames where the controller is a real gun with non-lethal ammunition. If speed is not your thing, you can try non-lethal firefights with friends or try to survive a zombie attack.
2. Botanical Gardens and Fountains
You might not think of botanical gardens when you think of Las Vegas, but the city has quite a few of them. One is near the Bellagio, while the other is in the Springs Preserve. Both tend to have special exhibitions during numerous holidays, so you may want to plan your trip accordingly.
Other than that, we cannot mention Bellagio without mentioning the incredible fountain outside. This fountain is specifically designed to present a water show every half hour, accompanied by music and lights. The Bellagio Fountains and Botanical Gardens are both free. Springs Preserve Park is not, but tickets are inexpensive and well worth the low cost.
3. High Rollers
Las Vegas is home to the High Roller, a large observation wheel that enables you to get incredible views of the city. What is an observation wheel? This is a Ferris wheel, but with a few key differences. Observation wheels are often larger than ferris wheels. They take guests further up into the sky, allowing for a better view.
The observation Ferris wheel is also more luxurious than the Ferris wheel. They come with a more stable cabin than the gondolas on the Ferris wheel. These cabins are barely larger and permit guests to stand up or walk around without worrying about the movement of the wheels throwing them off balance. The cabins are also constructed so that guests can get a clearer view on all sides than what a gondola can offer. For High Roller, it is best to visit during the day, because the ticket costs are cheaper. In addition, if you choose to stay at the Linq Hotel which has a High Roller, you can get discounted tickets.
4. View a Show
Las Vegas is known for some astonishing shows, from circuses to concerts. The city is home to legends such as the Blue Man Group, Penn and Teller and Cirque du Soleil. Some of these attractions may cost more, but it is worth it. That said, you haven’t got to look at super expensive in-demand events. In a city full of shows, there must be cheaper options. Before you go out to see anything, it is best to perform some research. This is Las Vegas, so understand that not all shows are directed towards kids.
5. Hoover Dam
While not right in Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam is simply 30 miles away, making it easy to drive to. Plus, it is a national landmark with an interesting history. The dam was built in the 1930s to stop flooding of the Colorado River. However, it’s also designed to help generate power for nearby areas. Today, the Hoover Dam is a monument to American ingenuity and one of our country’s famous landmarks.
6. Mass Museum
America’s interest in organized crime has spanned generations. On Mafia Museum in Las Vegas, you can explore the fascinating history of organized crime, and how the police fought it and are still fighting it. The museum also details the history of Las Vegas and its early links to organized crime. There’s even a model speakeasy and distillery in the basement for those who want to actually immerse themselves in those days.
7. Food
You cannot really say you have traveled anywhere if you have not tasted the food, and there’s plenty of great food in Vegas. The city offers many restaurants, including the Buffet Buffet. This odd restaurant may seem expensive at first glance, but considering that one ticket gives you twenty-four hours access to several different buffets, it is most likely worth it.
There are also many other good restaurants, serving everything from pizza to Japanese food, to burgers and fries. There are also some great places for dessert, including Ethel M’s, a real chocolate Mecca. This also includes a cactus plantation. Don’t mix them up, otherwise you could have a really nasty experience.
Las Vegas may be famous for its gambling, but you haven’t got to gamble to enjoy it, nor do you must be rich. There are lots of cheap things to do in Vegas that do not involve gambling. We have only mentioned a few of them in this article, but there are various more. We encourage you to do some more research yourself if you are interested.
