They do not call her a “blushing bride” for nothing. Makeup has the power to enhance a lady’s best features bringing out her natural radiance and sweetness. As a brow and makeup expert for nearly a decade, I’ve had the opportunity to work with hundreds of clients, changing their looks to suit different occasions. Over the years, I’ve learned that the key to a happy and delightful bride is a balance between her features, lighting, and the type of makeup applied. When preparing for your wedding day, remember that there are specific factors that will play a big role in the kind of makeup choices you make and why.
Be it the early morning events interspersed with the golden rays of a sparkling dawn; noon guilds are set to keep everybody awake, excited, and inspired; or a lavish night ceremony furnished with dark mysteries, colourful lights and tapestries of stars; the options are endless, and so are yours for the perfect makeup. Every bride is unique. From the outer appearance to the inner taste, there’s an ideal makeup for everybody. It’s important to have fun and experiment with new colours and styles to find a look you like. If you are a bride-to-be trying to choose the right bridal makeup for your big day, there are a few important details to consider before you make your choice.
One of the most helpful ways to determine your best bridal makeup is based on the time of day of your wedding. Cosmetics can make all of your wildest beauty dreams come true, however, it is extremely important to choose a look that matches the rest of your details and makes you the center of the most astonishing occasion.
Morning Bride
An early wedding calls for a fresh, natural make-up look that matches the fascinating, soft daylight of the day. To keep things subtle, but still romantic, choose a look that makes skin bright and clear, eyes bright and fresh, and lips soft, kissable, and romantic. Lighter shades blended softly on the eyes and soft pink on the lips can emphasize your natural beauty without drawing attention solely to makeup. For clear skin, remember to cleanse, tone, and moisturize twice a day, all year round. Clean skin becomes a fantastic canvas in the morning bride.
Evening Bride
Midday weddings are perfect for adding a little bit of contrast to the skin. If the ceremony is taking place outdoors, remember that the sun is at its highest point, which can cast shadows under the eyes. Make sure your makeup artist lightens the areas where the shadow will appear, and try not to add too much darkness to the face. Use a matte finish and, if exposed to direct sunlight, sunscreen is a must. You can even experiment with bolder eyes, lips, and blush, but leave out the extreme shades after the sun goes down.
Evening Bride
Evening is ideal for max contrast, high drama make-up and well-defined features. Evening brides can go for more extreme color on the eyes, lips, and cheeks, in addition to mile-long lashes. Since your ceremony and reception will take place with indoor lighting, this is an event where you can have fun with more creative color combinations. Remember, for foundation and powder, avoid products with unnecessary sun protection, which can cause the camera’s flash to bounce off your skin, making you look dull in photos.
Choosing your bridal makeup is thrilling. In my years working in the beauty industry, the brides who felt the most confident about their appearance were those who showed up for tryouts, where we tested different colours, textures, and styles of makeup. I all the time try to consult with my bride and groom before the marriage day so they can feel as relaxed as possible, allowing us to fully enjoy putting together the final look for the celebration. I also gave my bride luscious brows, so the entire face was properly framed from I-Do to Goodnight!
