We’re all dealing with lockdowns and quarantines right now, so trying to adjust to date night is a lot harder than it used to be. Setting up a romantic date night is commonly harder than anything, but with a romantic dinner at home, you can make lockdown night so much more fun.
The problem is that almost all people do not understand how to organize a very romantic evening. They most likely never have a romantic dinner at home and half the fun is the preparation. You need to shop for fresh ingredients: vegetables from organic grocers and meat from Superior Farm. You need to find a recipe that you know your partner will like: panna cotta or trifle? Lamb or pork? You need to find a nice candle with good china – which is what you got for your last birthday. All the options combined make a romantic dinner come alive and you can be in command of seeing it without a hitch. Let’s look at five things you can do to make it an amazing night.
- An essential drink for a romantic evening. You do not have to drink alcohol, particularly if neither of you does. A romantic dinner is not complete without the right drinks. If you like wine, choose something to complement the meat you serve: white wine for fish and red wine for the lamb. Steak also pairs well with red wine, and chicken also pairs well with a cold white wine option. If they prefer fizzy drinks, sparkling water is at all times a winner! Make the scene extra special by buying a classy cocktail or bourbon glass to add a touch of class to the evening. It’s also something you can use over and over to bring back memories. Use the ice bucket on the table for cold drinks – you will not regret it!
- Dinner is the main event here, and it does not must be complicated. Rack of lamb with red wine juice and mint sauce is a pretty choice, but even the simplest meal can be romantic. If their favourite food is mac and cheese crumbles, then you know you are a winner! Romance comes with how much you know them!
- Set the table properly. A romantic evening requires tablecloths, mats, candles and cutlery holders! You want it to look pretty much as good as it tastes. Add a large vase crammed with fresh flowers, in the best china you have at home.
- Add some music, and wear something you know they like. If you have been told you look good in blue, wear blue and wear a nice perfume or cologne. If you know the table looks good, you look good and the food is nice, it is already a good meal. Let the conversation flow now and it is the perfect dinner.
- Lastly, just relax. You have done the toughest part in all the preparation and cooking. If this is successful, at least you know you can have fun during lockdown! Dinner is an amazing way to strike up conversation and show off your cooking skills, particularly if you are not the main cook in the house!
