Introducing Advanced Skin Care and Minimally Invasive Procedures
Skincare is precedence number one for anyone trying to improve their appearance. Simply washing your face with a cleanser, using a toner and then applying a moisturizer can make an enormous difference in your youth. However, we notice as we age that we get freckles, stress/worry lines, sun damage, sagging skin, cellulite, etc. That’s when it is time to bring in the experts. That’s where the doctor will prescribe your anti-aging routine. As we begin to establish our regimen of home through doctor care, it is extremely important to follow steps to stop wrinkles, reduce discoloration, or remove spots/sun damage together with other important suggestions for treating skin aging all over the body. . Taking care of your skin and making it look and feel as charming and healthy as possible, is probably the greatest ways to be the most radiant and assured version of yourself. Sometimes, it takes the best and brightest tactics out there to fight the aging process. New York has a new star in town, a 6th generation Austinite whose work has been praised nationally.
Skintology Cosmedical MedSpa has a new owner and medical director hailing from “The Lone Star State”. Dr. Jennifer Walden is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is consistently named in Castle Connolly’s and America’s Top Doctors®. Reigning as one of the “Best Plastic Surgeons in America” on the cover of American Airlines Magazine, he continues to earn titles such as “Super Doctor”, “Best Plastic Surgeon MD” and gains major media coverage. Walden has appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News, E News, VH1 and plenty of more outlets as a plastic surgeon considering the advancement of cosmetic procedures and surgery. In addition to his two medical spas and surgical practice in Austin with a year-long waiting list, Dr. Walden is not new to New York. In fact, Dr. Walden did his fellowship training in cosmetic surgery at the renowned Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in 2003, and practiced in NYC for eight years would become the world-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell Aston afterwards. Bringing his mastery back to his second home in New York City in all things aesthetic, Dr. Walden uses his expertise to introduce minimally invasive to non-invasive cosmetic procedures to patients who desire a certain appearance.
Dr. Walden, has your experience influenced the type of care you provide?
Being a fellow board certified plastic surgeon trained in aesthetic surgery, I’m lucky to be in a position to have the ability to surgically rejuvenate most areas of the body if the patient is the right candidate for the procedure given. But I can even see through the lens of somebody who does not need or want cosmetic surgery, and know what women (and men) want to do to improve their appearance as they age without undergoing cosmetic surgery. Some people just know they do not want surgery.
Today, there are numerous non-invasive procedures that are effective for patients who don’t yet need surgery or aren’t ready to take it. That’s why I’m excited to be the new owner and medical director of Skintology MedSpa by Dr. Jennifer Walden on E. 57th Street in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. We offer everything from Botox, Dysport, soft tissue fillers (such as Vollure, Volbella, Belotero, Restylane Lyft and Silk), Coolsculpting fat reduction, Vivace Radiofrequency Microneedling, Sculpsure laser fat reduction, Ultherapy non-invasive face and neck lift, NuEra Tight non-invasive skin tightening, Exilis, Z-Wave cellulite therapy, medical-grade facials, non-invasive vaginal rejuvenation, non-invasive treatment for ED for men, and more! We are lucky to have highly skilled nurse injectors, doctor injectors and a team of estheticians who are experts in their field for many years. There is something and someone for everybody at our medical spas.
What’s your favourite skincare? Why?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is one of my favourite “organic” treatments! It helps improve fine lines, wrinkles, uneven texture and skin tone. I get this procedure done a few times a year and it makes my skin look smooth and youthful! I also love getting one of our special facials, it makes my skin glow. Add PRP (platelet rich plasma from your own body’s blood and growth factors) to it for a Vampire Facial and it will take you back in time!
What are the benefits of microneedling with radio frequency?
We offer Vivace microneedling with radio frequency devices. Vivace provides the better of both worlds by combining microneedling and radiofrequency energy to help stimulate new collagen production and tighten over time. As stated before, microneedling helps with fine lines and wrinkles and improves overall skin texture, while radio frequency helps relax skin and tighten skin with heat energy that penetrates deeper layers of skin.
How many times should this be done to see the result?
Typically, we recommend a series of three treatments 4-6 weeks apart. After the initial series is completed, we recommend one treatment every 4-6 months. Our estheticians love to perform this procedure as patients are generally quite pleased with the results.
What follow-up procedure would you recommend and why?
We often recommend that you have one laser or light-based treatment per year depending on your needs. The heat from the laser regenerates additional collagen and the light from the laser can resurface the skin for a more even texture, to help diminish shallow skin wrinkles and fine lines, and correct pigment changes.
What other procedures did you introduce to practice?
We now have a broad range of sexual health procedures. For women, we offer Votiva Vaginal Rejuvenation and O-Shot for the weakness, urinary incontinence, dryness, and irritation that menopause can bring. For men, we offer D-Wave and P-Shot for erectile dysfunction and increased blood flow. We also now offer a new radiofrequency device for skin tightening and cellulite reduction called NuEra Tight, which is less painful than hot stone massage. Other offerings include IV Hydration, Vampire Facelift and Vampire Facial – the “Vampire” procedure is a PRP or platelet rich plasma based procedure combined with microneedling for a facial or injected with Juvederm or other hyaluronic acid soft tissue fillers in the case of a non-invasive facelift. I have done this and swear by it!
Does your practice have a particular regimen for its clients?
We adapt each patient’s regimen based on each procedure and individual patient needs. We use “SpaScriptions” which are spa-like prescriptions so your regimen and follow-up schedule are clearly described and written by your provider for you.
Why is it important to follow a regimen?
One of the most vital aspects of a good skincare regimen is following up at home. We can recommend a wide range of doctor-specific skincare products designed for your needs to help provide you with the best results post-microneedling, injection, and/or laser. A good night’s sleep, sufficient hydration, avoiding sun exposure and smoking are also great for your skin to stop premature aging.
