Despite the luxury brand and its signature dueling ‘F’ pattern not only withstood the test of time, it also secured the Fashion House itself with an aura of fame. Eye-catching, incredible fur and vibrant colours are only a few of the features that have caught the eye this season both on and off the runway.
During Fall 2014 Fendi introduced a new theme that was implemented across the Ready-To-Wear collection, and started hitting luxury department store shelves internationally. Fendi’s monster accessories range come in all colours and sizes, from the elite “2 Jours” bag (which really fits 2 people), to backpacks, totes, and even shoes all embellished with monster details.
As if the cartoon style tote bag wasn’t enough, Fendi also introduced “bag bugs” to adorn on top of every of their naughty little leather goods. This kooky design has literally taken the fashion world by storm, allowing those lucky enough to get their hands on one of Fendi’s latest creations, looking totally Tokyo-style wherever she or he decides to venture.
Fashionistas hailing from cities around the globe have been photographed with Bag Bugs on their Birkins. Most notably, Celebrity Teen Icons Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who has been showing off her personal favourite Bag Bugs via Instagram, even dubbing her “Fluff-Fluff”. Supermodels GiGi Hagid, Olivia Palmero, Solange Knowles, and lots of other trendsetters have all been photographed wearing monster accessories from the collection. The June issue of Nylon Magazine even paid a small tribute to the creative work going on at Fendi, while showing off some of the fun pieces from the upcoming collection.
Fendi also created the “Karlito” Bag Bug modeled after Fashion-Mogul-Designer-Extraordinaire, Karl Lagerfield himself! Other High-Fashion options reflecting the coveted Bag Bugs style have recently been produced by other high-profile designers such as Michael Kors, Alexander McQueen and Phillip Lim.
The excitement over these new essentials has created unprecedented demand around the globe, as almost everything featuring the monster accents from the collection has sold out. That said, luxury resale sites such as lyst, stylebop, and net-a-porter, do have some sections of their collections, but because of high demand, each item currently sells at a premium.
For those of you who aren’t too keen on the spooky price label related to this spooky cool accessory, there are several more cost-effective options that still have the same furry feel.
Love the Fendi monster trend? Don’t worry, with the look of the Pre-Fall collection, this collection is not going away anytime soon.
