On August 23 2017, AKTIV Against Cancer Foundation together with James Blake held a pro-am tennis charity fundraiser at the Vanderbilt Tennis Club located in Grand Central Station.

“Cancer has affected my life personally which is why I founded the James Blake Foundation. It is an honor for me to support and take part in the AKTIV Against Cancer pro-am with Sarah Robb O’Hagan, Michelle Yu and Tina Cervasio to raise awareness of this important cause,” said James Blake.
The event also had Flywheel CEO Sarah Robb O’Hagan, SNY Sportscaster Michelle Yu and CBS Sports Anchor Tina Cervasio as the evening’s MCs.
Founded in Norway in 2007 by Norwegian national icons and nine-time New York City Marathon winners, Grete Waitz, and Helle Aanesen, AKTIV Against Cancer came to the United States in 2014. AKTIV Against Cancer supports numerous research projects to study the preventative effects of physical activity in cancer. AKTIV is currently funding two research projects at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. “AKTIV Against Cancer is very happy to expand our reach through tennis. We are pleased to experience such a deep mutual interest in fighting cancer by including physical activity as part of treatment.
