For the first time ever, Paris Fashion House, Givenchy hosted a memorable night in New York City. Under the direction of Artistic Director Riccardo Tisci, the star-studded high fashion show may have been the high point for New York City Fashion Week.
The audience is just a spectacle as much as the show itself. Donatella Versace and Amanda Seyfried from Givenchy’s ad campaign sat in the front row, alongside celebrities Kim and Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Ciara, Jennifer Hudson, Erykah Badu, Steven and Liv Tyler, Margot Robbie, Debbie Harry, Christina Ricci and Catherine Deneuve Julia Roberts .
Marina Abramovic, a friend of the DPR and co-author of various artistic projects, Riccardo Tisci creates shows that go beyond the scope of fashion. Designed to be an emotional experience focused on universal themes of affection, peace, freedom, humility, spirituality, it highlights four artists performing spiritual and cultural chants from around the globe.
Although the event coincided with the opening of a new boutique on Madison Avenue, designed by Riccardo Tisci, and the designer’s ten year anniversary as artistic director at the house, more importantly it was celebrating the success of Givenchy’s style finding equal expression. both in the world of high fashion and in street fashion. Forms of ladies’s pret-a-porter, high fashion, and men’s fashion all exemplify this double-edged style.
A different fashion look is an incredible re-interpretation of the most iconic pieces Riccardo Tisci designed over the last decade. Black and white, female and male, strength and fragility, the discipline of tailoring and the delicacy of lingerie all come together naturally in a collection that has a marriage of opposites. It involved top models with strong personalities chosen by Riccardo Tisci, such as Joan Smalls and Mariacarla Boscono, who showcased these pieces and underlined the human and sensual side of his style for Givenchy.
