First impressions are particularly important with regards to a job interview or someone you have a secret crush on. The clothes we wear in fact play a big part in it. You should choose something you feel most snug with and what makes you look professional and responsible. Also, do not forget to follow the dress code, if there’s one.
Don’t show too much skin
While you may not remember of the dress code requirements for many jobs, wearing short skirts, extreme cleavage, or short shorts is not the way to go. It can send the wrong message to your colleagues and appear unprofessional and a bit immature. Before going to any job interview, inquire and find out about their requirements.
Appropriate shoes
Always wear shoes that are appropriate for work, as you need to be snug for eight hours – or even more. During summer, please refrain from wearing flip-flops or trainers. They can send the wrong message, so try to find boots, versatile flats, medium heels or anything that looks professional and is snug at the same time.
Choose something that suits you best
Sophisticated jackets or longer dresses and skirts can make you look very professional, and are perfect for any job. You can even find a good tailor and have a special dress made just for you. Wear clothes that suit you, irrespective of your size. It can be a bit difficult for plus size women to find work-appropriate clothing. However, they can easily find it plus size dresses for each occasion on line. Some women are heavier on top and others on the bottom, so choose something that accentuates the body parts you like best.
Iron your clothes
Don’t come to work – or anywhere else – in rumpled clothes, because you could leave the wrong impression. Iron your clothes the night before and leave them where they’re hanging to stop wrinkles. You need to look sharp, confident and presentable. You do not want to appear irresponsible, because your boss will pay attention to every detail.
Easy makeup
Depending on the occasion you must choose your makeup well. In the office, you should be easy on makeup. Stay neutral and use minimal amounts of makeup, avoiding flashy lashes and false lashes because they are not professional and it may even annoy you at some point. You can all the time do this kind of makeup when you are out with friends, but you must keep it professional in the office. A little eyeliner, a touch of mascara and a dash of bronzer can make you look incredible.
Increase your self-confidence
Before go to the interview, try practicing the conversation in front of a mirror, or with a friend. Put on the clothes you prepared for the occasion, and begin talking. Do something that calms your nerves and offers you confidence, and you are good to go. The positive energy and vibes you’ll send if you believe will be your greatest weapon.
Always think about your personal style, and what makes you who you are. Don’t wear something that does not suit you or makes you feel uncomfortable, but wear something that’s fashionable and comfy and you can achieve a lot.
