The rising tension between rappers Joe Budden and Meek Mill sparked fireworks when the two exchanged words via social media on July 4. Early Saturday morning, Budden used his podcast show to consider the relationship between Rap’s newest power couple: Meek Mill and his recent fiancé Nicki Minaj.
“Part of my problem is that Meek’s music is too loud,” said Budden. “Meek’s music is too hard for me to look at with this sappy f**k sh*t. Be the hardcore guy I’m sure he is interested in at some point. That’s gross. Budden went on to say, “I hated everything about it. I’m glad that dark skinned men behave this way. Ni**as light skinned, we do not move like that. Light skinned guys, we’re used to getting the bad….
Budden’s comments spread like wildfire across the internet- catching the attention of Meek Mill who took to Twitter with a few thoughts of his own. The MMG rapper fired back by calling Budden a “noodle”, criticizing his career, and even claiming that he should stay on reality shows because “Rap’s money is slowing down”.
Nicki also took notice and broke her silence on the matter after tweeting, “Why are you getting bullied by another guy showing love to his girlfriend? Let’s celebrate black love. All the best with your podcasts. All jokes aside.
With the help of Meek Mill, the internet was soon crammed with satirical memes and videos of rapper Love and Hip Hop.
Budden later defended his remarks by saying that his words were “taken out of context. “
Though the 34-year-old lyricist from New Jersey is all too familiar with celebrity feuds, it is safe to say that in this scenario, Budden is unquestionably biting off more than he can chew.
Sorry Joe!
