Sneaker Brands giving music artists the opportunity to design and release their own sneakers has become a new wave. We have Drake with Jordan Brand, Kanye West, 2 Chainz, Big Sean with Adidas, and now the great Kendrick Lamar has teamed up with Reebok. Kendrick has quickly become the king of the rap game and is up for 11 Grammys this year. Her last album “To Pimp A Butterfly” went Platinum and was one of the greatest Albums of 2015. Kendrick seems to rule the world with regards to music, but this time she’s stepped a different path, kicks.
The Ventilator was released last year and did quite well, selling out in the US and UK What’s astonishing about shoes is not the shoes themselves, but what they represent. The heel of both shoes has the words “Blue” on one side and “Red” on the other. The model was created to bring peace to two of LA’s most violent gangs, Bloods and Crips. Kendrick is known as the man of his town and represents Compton wherever he goes. Kendrick’s goal is to stop the violence between the two crew members and create unity between the two. The new model released this month features an upgraded skin together with a more gray finish than the previous white version released last year.
