Selfies
Syllable: self fie
Definition of selfie in English:
noun (plural selfies)
informal A self-taken photo, generally taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media: an occasional selfie is appropriate, but posting a new photo of yourself every day is not necessary
In 2013 the Oxford Dictionary declared selfie the word of the year by adding the above definition to its catalog making it an official word and not just a popular culture phenomenon.
But little do we know that there’s an actual art to taking the perfect selfie. Angles, lighting, poses, backgrounds, filters and more all factor into play, but do not get overwhelmed as they’re outlined for you below. But pack your patience as you’ll be taking lots of shots to test this method.
Prepare your camera: Wipe the camera lens. Why, because fingerprints, dirt and sand collect on it and when you take a picture it shows up. Shooting with a clean lens is a must!
Camera Placement: Hold the camera above eye level and rotate/tilt your face at a three-quarter angle. Don’t ask why but it makes everybody look more attractive.

Know your good side: Everyone has a “handsome” side of their face. It’s all based on your opinion so you have to actually look at your face in the picture to see which side you prefer. Once you know that, remember so that when it is time to tilt your head barely, you know which side to put towards the camera. Lighting: Lighting is most likely the most vital key to the perfect selfie. It nearly does not matter how good your camera is if you haven’t got good lighting, your pictures will not be great. Finding the ideal lighting can be tricky, but we have got you covered… (see below) The Circle Trick: I know what you are thinking, what is the circle trick? Just the simplest way to find the perfect lighting for your pictures. I got this trick from the attractive and straightforward Jennifer Lopez. Hold your phone high and slowly rotate it in a full circle until you find the best lighting before taking the picture. I suggest dialing twice so you can be sure. You might find it funny doing it but trust me on this one! Phone Accessories: From time to time you will be in a place where there’s absolutely no good light. And since you are using the front camera, you cannot use the flash. Don’t panic, there’s an incredible phone case called LuMee that gives you the perfect selfie light for this situation. Check them out at lumee.com

Be Mindful of Your Background: Once you have found the right lighting, have a look at your backdrop. Is it messy? Is there plenty of clutter? If so, move objects or move yourself left or right until the mess comes out of your photo frame.
Pose: Strike a pose and have fun! Many people take serious photos and that is cool, but your friends want to see you happy! When unsure a few good pose, give a classic sweet smile. Plus your friends will notice.
Selfie App: Let’s face it, sometimes we get the perfect smudge and exposure and all the selfie tricks aren’t enough to distract you from that zit. You are in luck because there’s a Perfect 365 app that can magically remove your blemishes. It can even add a little make up to your face, remove bags from under your eyes, soften your skin and even slim your face. But do not get too carried away with all the touches this app has to offer. You do not want it to look like you changed your face. Keep it easy if you ever need to use this app.
Filters: So you have a terrific photo, now what? There are lots of filters to enhance your pictures. I personally do not use it much but if you like it make sure to look at Mayfair. It got the most likes on Instagram.
I know for a proven fact that these tips will help you get the perfect selfie. Maybe not in the first shot, but I guarantee that your days of almost filling up your phone attempting to find that one picture to send are over if you put these tips into practice! 🙂
