Lauren Conrad recently released her ninth book, Lauren Conrad Celebrateparty planning book and guide to entertaining.
In her latest book, the previous star of MTV’s “The Hills” offers budget-friendly lifestyle tips and showcases the dozens of parties she’s thrown over the years through lush photos.
I sit with number 1 New York Time bestselling author at a book signing in New Jersey, where Lauren reveals tips for throwing a fantastic party for any occasion.
Choose a Theme
“I think you made the theme fit,” said Conrad. “Birthday party—whatever you want, it is your birthday. If it is a baby shower or a marriage shower, I believe you do something to make it personal. So maybe something the couple likes or the bride likes and ties it together.
The former “Laguna Beach” star revealed the private touch she put into her own bridal shower. “I collect teacups because I’m 80 so we put that into the theme. And I believe it is fun to make it unique to you.
Preparation for Reception
From bridal showers and baby showers, to New Year’s Eve parties and backyard barbecues, and everything in between, Lauren Conrad has it all planned. So what are her tips for being a fantastic host?
“I think it’s really important to lay out a plan, figure out all the details beforehand so you’re not running around last minute trying to grab last minute things and put together an outfit and do all that stuff,” says the self-proclaimed Pinterest fanatic.
“I think if you’re using all this time for a party, you should enjoy your party.”
What to Wear
The 30-year-old fashion designer behind Paper Crown and LC Lauren Conrad gives partygoers advice on what to do if not sure of what to wear to a party when there is no dress code.
“I just asked someone else to leave. If I’m unsure, I believe it is better to ask than to show up and be uncomfortable.
party!
Now that everybody has come together, let the party begin!
“I think the best parties are the ones where you’re like, ‘I’m having the best night of my life,’ and I think you forget all the details – what the flowers looked like and maybe what was served,” says Conrad. “But it’s just with a group of people you love and you have fun with.”
Of all the parties she’s planned over the years, the seasoned hostess shared with me her favorites.
“Our wedding reception because it was the biggest party ever thrown.”
When I asked about any other books he had in the future, he replied, “I hope so,” prompting me to ask if he had anything particularly in mind.
“Well, I didn’t think about it, I just like doing it.”
As for what’s next for the author, Conrad stated, “I’ve spent so long working on this book, I’m so excited to get it out and have the ability to share it with everybody—just like last year. and half have made, so I’m really ‘celebrating’ this.
