David Burke Fabrick
David Burke Fabrick has been my “go-to” restaurant for an ingenious spin on seasonal ingredients and magnificently delicious dishes since opening. This summer, our list of fantastic summer desserts created by Executive Pastry Chef Zac Young is no exception. The Peach Melba Caramel Donut is a heavenly little donut hole stuffed with raspberries, and topped with caramelized peach sauce and whipped crème fraiche. If a good dessert is meant to transport you to a different time and place, then these peach-colored cushions make you think of a farm stall stuffed with ripe peaches, and they are enough to make me want to come back time and again. If edgy is more your speed, order the carrot cake which is certainly not for the faint of heart! It’s a delicious spin on carrot cake with cream cheese mousse and a pleasant tarragon-peanut vine ice cream that’s aromatic, bold, and memorable. Do yourself a favor and provide it a try before summer is out.

Imagine everything you love about the light, sweet texture of macarons and mix them with delicious ice cream. Now make plans to head to one of five Francois Payard locations in New York for a new twist on the classic ice cream sandwich where homemade ice cream and sorbets are churned together and sandwiched between a crunchy macarons shell. Sandwiches come in a number of flavors and that I opted to try the signature raspberry-pistachio and mango-coconut varieties. Both were absolutely delicious and managed to provide great flavor without being overly sweet. And if the taste is not enough to entice you – the packaging might. The ice cream sandwiches are served in a cute rectangular box that’s equally whimsical and Instagram-worthy piece.

Popbar
Gelato on a stick is hardly ingenious, but Pop Bar is arguably better than most. When it is 90 degrees outside and you need something to cool you down – Pop Bar in the West Village is the answer. Pop Bar offers dozens of flavors, each wonderful in its own way, but they take the experience one step further by letting you customise the toppings. Hazelnut gelato dipped in dark chocolate and sprinkled with nuts? Why not! Mixed berry sorbetto half dipped in milk chocolate? Yum! Or how a couple of classic yogurt pop for the purists? All pops are gluten free, and there are many options for vegans out there. Whatever you choose, one thing is guaranteed – immediate relief from the heat!

While not technically a dessert, who can resist a boozy popsicle tucked inside a glass of cold brew? Add in sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Statute of Liberty, and the experience is the perfect end to a hot summer day. Popsicles come in flavors like blueberry-mint with citadel gin, and red plum-basil with redemption rye, and while they’re delicious, they turn into a grown-up mush best when allowed to melt in a glass of prosecco (if you can stop yourself from eating them that long). !).

Bar Dessert Place
Housed in a very unassuming basement with a line winding its way up a steep flight of stairs, this dessert bar does things a little differently. Blame the Asian flare, but the desserts were worth the wait. The most popular offering is the chocolate green tea lava cake with green tea ice cream, and yes, it tastes incredible. Dip your spoon into the warm, rich chocolate cake and watch the dark chocolate and green ganache ooze out. When you mix it up with a spoonful of green tea ice cream, it is easy to forget you have been standing in line for 30 minutes.
