Things are getting in the way of us for NYFW and it is safe to say, we cannot complain one bit!
British room shaker designer from Paris, Gareth Pugh, is heading to New York City for one of the most enjoyable times of the year. Her spot has been at Paris’ Fashion week for the past six years and not only did she want to do things differently this time, but she wanted to change the city totally and we accepted that with open arms.
Pugh is best known for his future style, badass gal kicks, out of the box thinking, slick design, which has blessed the Paris runways. As he told the New York Times, he will have an “immersive live performance” for the opening of the show including live and video dancers.
Getting others to think outside the box is what he tries to do. “There comes a point where old archetypes need to be changed. Fashion is very stuck in its own way, and that I wanted to represent something that would make people think, and perhaps move a little. Communication during a dress show show is all the time important obviously, but for Pugh selling the dream is cherished too, together with that.
Here are 4 reasons we think he is bound to achieve success during NYFW:
- As previously stated, future style, kicking badass gal, out the box thinking, slick design is a sight to behold. Who does not want to feel that way in clothes?
- Pugh has managed to gain a following of many successful people in the industry such as, Vogue Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour. If that does not convince you, then I do not know what else will.
- Not only has she been a part of Paris Fashion Week for the past six years, but she was also a part of London Fashion Week in 2005. The more fashion weeks she’s been a part of, the merrier we get.
- Last but not least, she is a designer who all the time seems to keep everybody on their toes. A little anticipation leads to great things!
All in all, taking risks by transforming cities, creating performances to captivate other people’s minds, and creating imaginative experiences overall left him worried about how it would turn out, but as he put it, “… I think starting a fire is good. under your ass every once in a while.” We’ll be keeping a close eye on that spark.
