Another season has arrived and France is awash in March with the most extraordinary designers in the fashion industry. Runways across Paris shed the bold, deep, and vibrant color palettes expected for the fall/winter 2014 collection.
Louis Vuitton steps back in time to the Orient Express era. Leather suitcases spilled out of steam locomotives at the Louvre Museum with models carried and accessorized with Louis Vuitton hat boxes and makeup bags. This season, creative director Marc Jacobs combined Vuitton’s signature bold pattern with brocade, bejeweled buttons and bold sequins. The line consists of showing off thick long coats for fall in chocolate browns, rustic reds, and a little bit of a pop of deep gold. Louis Vuitton’s forecast for fall and winter is to bring old romance and travel to our wardrobes.
The Miu Miu catwalk has a “strong woman” prop with their fall lines crammed with trouser suits. This power suit has Miu Miu flare in a bold print, rich colours, jewels and a pop coloured heel. Nothing holds back particularly all the various paisley prints, plaid, plaid, suede, and even hippie medal suit jackets. A feminine tie adds a fresh, bold look that contrasts one print with the other.
Karl Lagerfeld took Chanel fashion week in Paris in a different kind of smoke than Marc Jacobs did. Located in the Grand Palais, Lagerfeld constructed smoky quartz and life-size amethysts to be the main focus of the runway. The Fortress of Solitude may be dark and gloomy but like in the depths of each secret cave there’s the beauty and shine of crystal. These models are the perfect representation of beauty with tweed jackets that shimmer to catch and reflect light. Oversized jacket combined with velvet pants and crystal encrusted heels on top. The outfit is also worn on a new line of mini bags in classic shapes even as the lovely three year old spends his time on the catwalk in a bag layered over the shoulder.
The fall/winter 2014 collection is vibrant with a pop of on-trend color but with earthy tones. Along with new trends, old trends like stripes, cashmere, micro designs, leather and more are giving fashionistas in Paris a glimpse of their upcoming fall wardrobe. Men’s fall/winter fashion week 2014 is coming from 27 June to 1 July.
