Complete rage. Twitter has exploded with the fury of NFL fans who know that the punishment for hitting a lady should be far worse than the punishment for substance abuse. I must agree. Maybe it is because society is so used to the undeniable fact that athletes play with women like they play with toys, somehow – it is unacceptable.
Lane Johnson of Philadelphia, suspended for four games for substance abuse, was joined by Ace Sanders of Jacksonville, Dion Jordan of Miami, Spencer Nealy of Minnesota and plenty of more. LaVon Brazill, an unplanned free agent from Boise State, was suspended for nearly a year for violating the league’s substance abuse policy and all you can give Ray Rice is a 2 game suspension?
Not an accusation that Rice dragged her fiancé out of the lift, there is a video of it. We see him dragging her out of the elevator and then, we watch him leave her there… We compliment him for coming back for her later (and yes, that’s sarcasm) but with as much practice as he is put in, can he not just bring his future wife into their hotel room? That was the least he could do.
“It’s not a big deal, it is part of the process. There are consequences when you make mistakes like that. I stand behind Ray. He’s an annoying guy. He has been doing everything right since then. He made a mistake, okay? He must pay the price. I believe it is good for youths to understand how it works like that. That’s how it works, that’s how it is supposed to be,” said John Harbaugh.
That’s not a big deal? I lost respect there. The consequence for hitting a lady is not a 2 game suspension. That’s “you’re on time out” for a 13 year old and I’m pretty sure 13 year olds are too old to be included in time out. What the NFL has just taught little boys nationwide is “it’s okay to touch a woman if you’re an outstanding athlete.” That’s not the point of your message, is it? In that case, okay. Re-evaluate.
Disgusted is not even a word. Roger Goodell, you must explain.
