Indio Downey, son of Robert Downey Jr., was arrested in West Hollywood, California on Sunday, June 29, 2014 for possession of cocaine. According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the 20-year-old’s arrest came as a result of a traffic stop and an investigation into which Indio was a passenger in the car, near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and La Cienega.
Indio posted $10,000.00 bail then was released just after 12:30pm on Monday morning. It is known that his 49-year-old father is no stranger to law enforcement. That Iron Man the actor publicly battled substance abuse in the 1990s, bringing him to rehab and jail on numerous occasions. Today, he shared that he has been drug free since 2003.
The following statement released by Downey Jr. on his son’s recent arrest: “Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio most certainly inherited it. Also, there’s quite a lot of family support and understanding, and we are all determined to support him and help him become the man he can become. We thank the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story, not a cautionary tale.
