Upon arrival, ART’s multi-sensory experience begins with a large-scale lighting installation by Leo Villarrealgreeting guests from a walk downtown. Villareal, the acclaimed artist behind the San Francisco Bay Bridge’s “Bay Lights,” created a special installation made of 22,000 LED light bulbs that drew the eye from Broadway to the hotel’s Portico Gallery for an unforgettable arrival experience.
“With carefully selected work, we have literally put together a collection of the highest caliber of art at any hotel in the US,” explains the Curator Diane Vanderlip. “Over a two-year period we selected pieces and commissioned pieces that would intrigue guests while responding to the hotel’s surroundings, which happen to be some of the best architecture in the area.
