Equation for you: Consumed 70 beers + closed room = awesome episode of the Sunny gang. It’s just math. The opening salvo of season 10 delivered probably the greatest episodes from the last season IASIP, even though not without problems. The episode opens with the gang boarding a plane wearing a white shirt stating a number of beers. The lone exception is Mac who has appointed himself Contest Commissioner after losing an unseen chugging contest before boarding the plane.
Dee took an early lead by consuming 29 beers before takeoff, but this was by no means a winning strategy. Within minutes of cruising altitude, Dee was sleeping like a drunken little baby resting its head on the shoulder of its seatmate. We run into Charlie trailing behind Dee who for some reason thinks Wade Bogg is dead (he is very much alive) and insists he is drinking in his memory. The joke reaches a climax when a really drunk Charlie hallucinates that the dead Wade Boggs is cheering him on and shares a drink with him.
Dennis and Frank happily continue the dark path they traveled through Season 10. Dennis’ special brand of narcissistic serial killer nature is on full display. Her monologue about the only sexually fulfilling passenger on the plane was disturbing and splashy (“if she stands up you’ll notice she has no panty line, gave me about five extra seconds to quickly enter before she realized I wasn’t.” answer to the problem”). This scrupulous speech becomes even funnier when Dennis finally joins the Mile High Club with the desert scum he is said to be far below. He turns out to be not only insane but also a stage 5 connected which caused Dennis to descend in North Dakota. Frank is at best in small doses and here he is generally a non-entity in a contest and just showing up to make a disgusting but hilarious statement. It’s either asking flight attendants if they provide condoms or caring for a Frat boy who also consumes the limited supply of beer contained in the DC-10.
The contest ends with the only surviving member, Charlie (Frank ends up collapsing on the island after downing beer 41 and Dee exits the luggage carousel after consuming beer 71), hitting the only ball Mac had brought with him, so he declares Charlie contest winner. My only issue with this episode was the logic sequence with the gang certainly committing a ton of felonies and not one mention of the Charlies’ phobia of leaving Philadelphia but it was so funny that this did not stop me from enjoying it.
