If there’s one thing New York City is missing, it is a fantastic steakhouse. Sometimes it is hard to choose one of all of them for that special dish. Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse adds another great variety to the various dining options in the city.
Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse was founded by Ben and Jack Sinanaj, longtime waiters at the famous steakhouse Peter Luger. After learning everything they could, in 2005 they opened their own steakhouse not far from Grand Central Station. Finally, this one location got bigger, as the duo opened bigger locations near Penn Station and the Empire State Building. This is their current home, replete with sober ‘boys’ club’ décor and a fantastic selection of great food.
Most steakhouses have an air of austere formality about them, a reflection of the high price tags they command their food. Ben & Jack’s took the standard steakhouse formalities and removed them, swapping the stuffy atmosphere for a relaxed environment. The bar area is finished in lovely medium-tone wood, the high chairs are upholstered in red leather. The main dining area features rich wood paneling, warm colours and soft but eye-catching artwork. For larger parties or those attempting to find an intimate place to celebrate, the private room covered with frosted and etched glass panels can be booked for up to 250 guests.
Ben & Jack’s is known for their steaks. This steakhouse offers prime Midwestern porterhouse steak, which is cured in house. Steaks come in a number of sizes; the 44-ounce signature slice serves up to 4 people. Other food options include Chilean Sea Bass, Grilled Norwegian Salmon, seafood pasta and 4lb. jumbo lobster, which can be served grilled or steamed. The bar menu is a good option for those who just want an oyster or cheese plate to go with a drink or two. The bar also offers an intensive wine list, featuring red and white wines from vineyards all over the world.
So whether you are attempting to find a place for your next party or a place for a nice intimate dinner, Ben & Jack’s Steakhouse has all the bases covered in its own classic style.
