Even if your kitchen looks clean, there are some things we use every day that can get a little dirty. You might be surprised to know what king of bacteria and dirt this stuff most likely contain and they’re the ones we use most frequently when cooking or cleaning. Some of them can be cleaned and disinfected while others need to get replaced continuously.
Dishwashing Sponge
Scary as it’s, a recent study reported in The New York Times claims that there is no way for a dishwashing sponge to kill all the germs it contains. It is suggested to replace it regularly and never let it get wet and wet.
Handle
Kitchen handles can be some of the dirtiest in the house as many touch them after touching raw meat, dirty vegetables and more. Be sure to clean your fridge handles, cabinet and kitchen handles, and dishwasher regularly. Disinfecting wipes or other similar products are a good idea to use. It can be tiring to consider all these details, but they’re key to proper cleaning. If it is going to take up too much of your time, then it is all the time a good idea to leave apartment cleaning in the hands of the professionals.
Salt and Pepper Shaker
We use salt and pepper every day to make our food tastier, but we also add, unknowingly, the tons of bacteria that live in it. It is suggested to put it in the dishwasher before refilling and wipe it continuously with antibacterial liquid or disinfectant wipes.
Sink
The kitchen sink is used daily by most of us, even though we even have a dishwasher. Specialists recommend disinfecting the kitchen sink daily with bleach and water and every time necessary. One study has even shown that toilet bowls can be cleaner than sinks, particularly if you tend to leave dirty dishes in them overnight.
Cutting board
Cutting boards are kitchen accessories that we use everyday for cooking purposes and have been labeled as the dirtiest thing in our kitchens. This occurs because of cross-contamination when using the same cutting board for meat, poultry, fish, fruit and vegetables. It is suggested to sterilize the cutting board after use for raw meat and it’s a good idea to wash it in the dishwasher and use a different cutting board for groceries and vegetables.
Dish Towel
These towels are certainly not as clean as your bathroom towels and this is because we tend to use them longer before washing them. We even swipe our kitchen table with the same towel for a long time before remembering to wash it. Use bleach to wash them and replace them every day.
Other things you may want to disinfect daily are can openers, knife blocks, and coffee makers.
