Millennials changed the way we live and since they love to travel, they changed the way we travel too. If the older generation takes a train or plane to visit a foreign country, millennials now travel by car. If you do not have a car, you can easily buy one, travel with it, and then sell it for cash after you return home. There are many advantages and drawbacks to this mode of transportation, but it’s an experience that you should have at least once in your life and here’s why.
You decide where you go
When you hear about traveling by car, you possibly consider freedom. If not, you should think again. It’s true that a car may require lots of attention from you, as you must drive it all the time, but you can decide when and where to go. You do not have to wait for a train or rush to catch a bus. You are free to explore every country, every city so long as you want.
You can save money
Although a car requires fuel which can be expensive, you can save lots of money on food. Since you are by car, you can go to the nearest supermarket and buy what you want for a fraction of the price you would pay if you trusted restaurants for food.
You can even save money on accommodations, as many places all over the world offer affordable camping spots. If you have a big car, like an SUV, you can even sleep in the car.
Depending on who you are traveling with, you can share travel expense. For example, if you are traveling with two or more friends, you can split the price of fuel and parking, making the entire trip more cost-effective for all of you.
You will feel safer
When you need to transit where there are many shady characters on the streets, you will be happy to be in a safe car, speeding away from potentially dangerous situations.
Less planning, more traveling
Before you leave home, you should spend lots of time planning your trip, because booking trains, planes and hotels will take time. And a decent amount of organizational skills. Once you have done this, you will need to stick to the route and schedule, as many places will require you to pay at least part of the amount in advance. In comparison, traveling by car is much easier, as you can go with the flow or skip planning totally and depend on home sharing.
Your experience is more complete
Cooking barbeques with salads by the river, sleeping under the stars and driving hours and hours to find your next favourite place on earth. All of this will occur enrich your travel experience. If you are traveling by train or plane, you cannot undergo all of this, so you should try traveling by car at least once.
