Chimu is located in the heart of Brooklyn in the Williamsburg section of town. This Peruvian restaurant is one of a kind. It is small but full of art and skill. Says NY Mag, “This restaurant specialises in Peruvian coastal cuisine, where the Chimu people once ruled, so it is no surprise that seafood is a standout. His masterpiece is the mixed seafood ceviche, a generous platter of delicious raw clams, crab, prawns and whitefish, seasoned with lime and cilantro. A delicious seafood stew is joined by a juicy Pollo a la Brasa amongst the entrees. Chimu also doubles as a steakhouse, with skirt steaks and savory shell steaks slathered in garlic and olive oil.
After owning a vitamin and body supplement shop, Chimu’s owner ventured into the food and beverage business. The difference in business genre has not hindered the success of their restaurant. They have already got an Italian restaurant in addition to another Peruvian restaurant in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Their Italian restaurant is really in an episode of The Sopranos.
Bobby Flay had been to Chimu with his television segment Boy Meets Grill. “With some advice from Aarón Sánchez, Bobby heads to Chimu for some great Peruvian food. Ceviche Chimu is still a must-try for newcomers, but if you are feeling strong (or want to feel even stronger) try Pescado a lo Macho, which is believed to have refreshing properties.
